Brooks Baldwin Hits 10-Day Injured List

Chicago White Sox second baseman/shortstop Brooks Baldwin (wrist) was placed on the 10-day injured list with a right wrist sprain. In a corresponding move, the White Sox recalled infielder Bryan Ramos from Triple-A Charlotte. The 24-year-old came off the bench on Tuesday evening after sitting out the previous seven games but will now sit out for at least the next ten days. Since joining the major leagues in mid-July, Baldwin has posted a mere .211 AVG with only eight extra-base hits. Fantasy managers should expect Lenyn Sosa and Nicky Lopez to serve as the everyday second baseman and shortstop on the Southside down the stretch. Both Sosa and Lopez have been unable to produce consistently this summer and are not worth adding in standard leagues.

Brooks Baldwin Shows Off Power

Chicago White Sox second baseman Brooks Baldwin hit his second career homer in Monday's 12-2 win over the New York Yankees, his only hit in four plate appearances. Baldwin's blast was a three-run shot in the bottom of the seventh off Enyel De Los Santos, giving the White Sox an 11-2 lead at the time. He is hitting .213/.244/.347 with eight RBI, and seven runs scored in 21 games. Baldwin is 2-for-2 in stolen bases and does offer speed potential in deeper fantasy leagues. He will draw interest in AL-only formats but only for those fantasy managers seeking to fill a middle infield spot with a warm body.

Brooks Baldwin Struggling Through First Taste Of The Majors

Chicago White Sox second base/shortstop prospect Brooks Baldwin has struggled through his first taste of the big leagues. Across his first 12 games, the former 12th-round selection sits with a .175/.215/.275 slash line. He has hit four doubles and swiped two bags but has yet to go deep. The infielder progressed through the Chicago pipeline fairly quickly as he opened the season by making his Double-A debut and then reached Triple-A in early July. He needed only eight games at the top level of the minor leagues to prove he was ready for a promotion, as he posted a stellar .345/.441/.655 line. Even though Baldwin has struggled to get settled, he is still worth holding onto in deeper leagues as he has been penciled into the starting nine every day.
