Texas Rangers first baseman Nathaniel Lowe (oblique) was able to take batting practice on Friday without any issues. Lowe continues to make progress on his right oblique strain that has sidelined him since the beginning of the season. The Rangers haven't given a timetable for his return to the field yet. The assumption is that Lowe will be back on the field by the end of April. Until then, Jared Walsh will see increased playing time at first base.

Boston Red Sox catcher Connor Wong remains out of the starting lineup ahead of Friday's game against the Los Angeles Angels. The 27-year-old was expected to be the starting catcher to begin the season. However, Wong has only started three of the team's first eight games of the season. Instead of Wong, the Red Sox will go with Reese McGuire behind the plate and he'll bat ninth against right-hander Griffin Canning.

Los Angeles Angels infielder Luis Rengifo is back on the bench ahead of Friday's game against the Boston Red Sox. The 27-year-old has started only two of the first seven games for the Halos this season. It's obvious that manager Ron Washington doesn't consider Rengifo an everyday player right now. It'll likely take an injury to Anthony Rendon for Rengifo to get more playing time. At the moment, Rengifo appears to be stuck in a platoon spot.

Atlanta Braves manager Brian Snitker said that catcher Sean Murphy (oblique) hasn't resumed swinging yet after being placed on the injured list with a Grade 1 left-oblique strain. Murphy can't ramp up baseball activities until he feels better and is pain-free. "It's a tough injury," Snitker said. "Even as slight as that one was, it's still a big injury." This news tells fantasy managers not to expect the 29-year-old backstop to return from the IL when he's eligible to return on April 9. Until Murphy returns, Travis d'Arnaud will continue to operate as the team's primary catcher, with Chadwick Tromp backing him up. Murphy was a first-time All-Star in 2023 in his first year in Atlanta but injured his oblique in the first game of the year in 2024. He deserves to be stashed in all fantasy formats.

Milwaukee Brewers left-hander Wade Miley (shoulder) threw three simulated innings at Citi Field last week and two more simulated innings at American Family Field on Monday and is now scheduled to start for Triple-A Nashville in a rehab game on Friday. Miley would like his next outing after that to be with the Brewers, but that will depend on clearance from the medical staff. He's eligible to be activated from the 15-day injured list as soon as April 9 in Cincinnati. The 37-year-old southpaw was delayed at the start of spring training due to shoulder soreness and was eventually diagnosed with a left-shoulder impingement. The soft-tossing lefty will have a rotation spot waiting for him, but his lack of strikeout upside makes him one to avoid in most mixed fantasy leagues, and we certainly wouldn't suggest streaming him if he makes his 2024 debut versus the Reds.
