Geraldo Perdomo Still Out Friday

Arizona Diamondbacks shortstop Geraldo Perdomo (knee) is out of the team's starting lineup as they face the Braves in Atlanta on Friday. Perdomo left the team's game early on Wednesday against the New York Yankees and was diagnosed with right-knee discomfort. For now, fantasy managers should consider the 24-year-old to be day-to-day and check back on his availability on Saturday for the second game of the series. The Dominican infielder has six hits in his first 24 at-bats on the year with two RBI and three runs scored for the Snakes. Veteran Jace Peterson will start at the 6 on Friday and hit eighth in the lineup against Braves right-hander Spencer Strider. Against one of the best pitchers in the game, we'd recommend avoiding Peterson in DFS.UPDATE: Perdomo looked good but didn't feel good on Friday, manager Torey Lovullo said. Perdomo experienced enough discomfort that he'll likely undergo an MRI exam on Saturday.

Brandon Nimmo Sitting Against Reds Due To Hamstring Tightness

New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo (hamstring) is not in the team's starting lineup on Friday versus the Cincinnati Reds due to minor hamstring tightness. Tyrone Taylor is starting in left field and is batting sixth, while shortstop Francisco Lindor moves up to the leadoff spot for the Mets against Reds right-hander Hunter Greene. Lindor and Taylor both have home runs in their career against Greene, albeit in just 17 combined at-bats. The 31-year-old Nimmo could use the day off in the series opener against Cincy, as he's started the year off with just one hit, a stolen base, six walks and six strikeouts in his first 28 plate appearances. The Mets don't consider Nimmo's injury to be serious, as he's listed as day-to-day, so hopefully he'll return on Saturday.

Tyler Stephenson Getting A Day Off

Cincinnati Reds catcher Tyler Stephenson will start Friday's game against the visiting New York Mets on the bench. Instead, Luke Maile will catch right-hander Hunter Greene and bat ninth against Mets left-hander Jose Quintana. Maile has never faced the veteran Quintana in his career and has one hit in his first nine plate appearances this year, but that one hit was a two-run home run. Still, Maile will be a poor choice with a low ceiling in DFS lineups on Friday. Stephenson, who disappointed in 2023 in his fourth year with the Reds, is also off to a slow start in 2024 with three hits in his first 16 plate appearances with five strikeouts in his first six games played.

Jeimer Candelario Playing On Friday

Cincinnati Reds corner infielder Jeimer Candelario (elbow), who hyperextended his elbow in his final at-bat on Wednesday, is back in the starting lineup on Friday against the visiting New York Mets and left-hander Jose Quintana. Candelario is serving as the designated hitter and is batting cleanup, while Santiago Espinal is at the hot corner and is hitting seventh in the batting order. The 30-year-old switch-hitting Candelario has gone just 4-for-24 (.167) with a home run and two RBI in his first six games in 2024 with the Reds, but fantasy managers will want to get him back into their lineups now that he's active. In seven career at-bats against Quintana, he's hitting .429 with a 1.000 OPS.

Ty France Placed On Paternity List

The Seattle Mariners placed first baseman Ty France on the paternity list on Friday and called up infielder Samad Taylor from Triple-A Tacoma in a corresponding move. France will miss the weekend series against the Milwaukee Brewers but should be back early next week to take on the Blue Jays in Toronto. Seattle's starting lineup against the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday night has yet to be posted, but either Luke Raley or Dylan Moore are the primary candidates to start at first base for the team with France away from the team this weekend. The 29-year-old France has looked good in the early going for Seattle this year, going 8-for-25 (.320) with a double, RBI and three runs scored in 27 plate appearances over his first seven games. Fantasy managers need to remove him from their lineups this weekend.
