Colorado Rockies shortstop Orlando Arcia will make his team debut on Wednesday versus the Chicago Cubs. Arcia recently signed a one-year deal with the Rockies after being released by the Atlanta Braves over the weekend. The 30-year-old hasn't done much with the bat this season, but has been limited to only 14 games. Arcia was an All-Star in 2023, but he has seen his stats take a dramatic fall since then. The Rockies don't have much to lose in this situation, so they might as well take a chance on him. Arcia will serve as the designated hitter and bat seventh versus left-hander Matthew Boyd on Wednesday. Fantasy managers can take a wait-and-see approach with Arcia.

The Colorado Rockies have reportedly signed free-agent shortstop Orlando Arcia on Monday. Arcia was released over the weekend after struggling with the Atlanta Braves to begin the season. The 30-year-old has seen his numbers take a dive since his All-Star season in 2023. It's unclear how he'll fit into the Rockies lineup, but they could use all the help they can get right now. Ezequiel Tovar is the everyday shortstop, but maybe Arcia gets a chance at second base with Adael Amador struggling right now. Regardless, it's unlikely that Arcia produces enough to warrant rostering him in most fantasy formats.

The Atlanta Braves announced on Friday that they designated infielder Orlando Arcia for assignment to make room on the active roster for outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. (knee) in his return from the injured list. Arcia went from being the team's starting shortstop on Opening Day to losing the gig to the light-hitting Nick Allen, and now he finds himself off the 40-man roster entirely. If nobody claims the 30-year-old on waivers, he'll be free to sign with any team. The Venezuelan infielder was a first-time All-Star in 2023 with Atlanta but has fallen off a cliff offensively the last two seasons. He hit .218/.271/.354 in 157 games last year but matched his career-high with 17 homers. In just 14 games in 2025, Arcia went 6-for-31 (.194) with no homers, one walk and eight strikeouts before quickly finding himself on the bench in favor of Allen.
