Jung Hoo Lee Dealing With Hamstring Tightness

San Francisco Giants rookie outfielder Jung Hoo Lee (hamstring) is dealing with left-hamstring tightness in camp and will be limited for the next two to three days. Lee was pulled from Wednesday's Cactus League game early as a precaution. It's something to watch for the 25-year-old as he prepares for his first season in the big leagues, but it appears to be minor, so it would be a surprise if Lee isn't ready for Opening Day on March 28. Lee will be San Fran's starting center fielder in 2024 after signing a six-year, $113 million deal after seven strong seasons in Korea. He has elite contact ability and should score plenty of runs for fantasy managers at the top of the Giants' batting order. Lee doesn't have much power, though. Some have worried about how he'll handle velocity in the big leagues, but he's been impressive so far in spring training.

Danny Jansen Has Fracture In His Wrist

Toronto Blue Jays catcher Danny Jansen (wrist) has been diagnosed with a fractured pisiform bone in his right wrist. The Blue Jays expect him to miss "a couple weeks," and he has a follow-up appointment with a doctor on Friday. The 28-year-old backstop's history of hand issues continues. It's a tough blow for Toronto just before the start of the season for one of their most important hitters, but manager John Schneider is hoping Jansen will return quickly. Jansen was hit by a pitch in a Grapefruit League game on Wednesday and will now miss at least the next couple of weeks while he heals. He'll likely open the year on the injured list, but he could make his season debut at some point in April. With Jansen sidelined, Alejandro Kirk will be the team's primary catcher, with Brian Serven and Payton Henry battling for backup duties.

Kevin Gausman Looking Unlikely For Opening Day

Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Kevin Gausman (shoulder) will throw one inning of live batting practice in camp on Friday and build back up from there. It's now looking unlikely that he'll be able to start on Opening Day for the team on March 28. "We just want him to be good, and if that means 30 starts as opposed to 32, we'll be pretty happy with that," manager John Schneider said. The Blue Jays aren't going to push their 33-year-old ace back too soon just so that he can start on Opening Day. Gausman has been dealing with right-shoulder fatigue in spring training, but he's making progress now and should make his 2024 debut in mid-April, barring any setbacks as he builds back up. Both his injury and Alek Manoah's (shoulder) means that both Bowden Francis and Mitch White are likely to open the year in Toronto's rotation.

Jake Meyers Continues To Have Strong Spring

Houston Astros outfielder Jake Meyers went 1-for-3 with a homer against the Washington Nationals in Thursday's Grapefruit League action. Meyers is coming off of his best season as a professional and is off to a nice start this spring with a .348 batting average. In addition, he has also hit two homers, four RBI, six runs and one stolen base. The 27-year-old is expected to open the season in center field for the Astros, but remains best served as a depth option in the deepest of leagues for now.

Emmanuel Clase Has Rough Inning Of Work

Cleveland Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase allowed a three-run homer to Alan Trejo in one inning against the Colorado Rockies on Thursday in Cactus League action. It was the first bad performance this spring for the 25-year-old and he has now thrown five innings with nine strikeouts. There were some whispers this offseason of a potential Clase trade, but nothing came to fruition and he remains the Guardians closer. The right-hander is coming off of another strong season and remains one of the top closers in the game. Managers shouldn't hesitate to draft Clase as one of the top bullpen options entering 2024.
