The move was precautionary in nature and it's reported that he would have suited up if this was a regular-season contest. The switch-hitter led all big-league backstops with 30 home runs last season while he hit .232 with 78 runs and 75 RBI alongside a .762 OPS across 145 appearances a season ago. His elite defense combined with his big bat will ensure serious playing time in the 2024 season. ATC projects Raleigh to hit .226 with 26 home runs, 71 RBI, and a .753 OPS across 509 trips to the plate in the 2024 campaign.

Texas Rangers outfield prospect Wyatt Langford hasn't officially cracked the club's Opening Day roster but has done everything he can to do so, according to general manager Chris Young. The fourth overall pick of the 2023 draft has made headlines this spring as he has raked to this point in Cactus League action. The 22-year-old has hit .361 with five home runs, including a grand slam, alongside 14 RBI and a big-time 1.248 OPS across 43 trips to the plate this spring. The Florida Gators product has appeared in just 44 minor league games, combining to hit .360 with 10 home runs, 12 stolen bases, and a 1.157 OPS across an even 200 trips to the plate. Even if he doesn't make the Opening Day roster Langford looks likely to make a fantasy impact sooner than later.


Free-agent outfielder Kole Calhoun has decided to retire from professional baseball. The veteran announced his retirement in a lengthy statement online after a solid 12-year run in the majors. Calhoun began to cement himself in the 2013 season when he hit .282 with eight homers in just 58 games. He went on to become the everyday right fielder for the Angels the following season when he hit .272 with 17 home runs and a .775 OPS across 127 games in the 2013 campaign. He would be an integral part of the Angels' offense for the next five seasons, launching a career-high 33 home runs in the 2019 campaign. All told, the 36-year-old posted a .242 average with 179 long balls and 34 stolen bases across 1,239 appearances in the big leagues.


Free-agent outfielder Jordan Luplow agreed with the Philadelphia Phillies on a minor-league deal on Friday, according to sources. Luplow was recently released by the Atlanta Braves to explore other opportunities. The 30-year-old former third-round pick by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2014 out of Fresno State spent the 2023 season with the Toronto Blue Jays and Minnesota Twins, slashing .208/.322/.325 with two home runs, five RBI and two stolen bases in just 39 games played. At the Triple-A level, he hit .242/.347/.430 in 222 plate appearances. Luplow is going to start the year at Triple-A Lehigh Valley and will provide outfield depth the for the Phils to begin the season. He's a career .212/.314/.423 hitter in seven major-league seasons with 47 homers and 125 RBI in 361 games played.



Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that right-hander Bobby Miller will start the team's second exhibition game in Korea on Monday against the Korean national team after the team goes with a bullpen game on Sunday versus the Kiwoom Heroes of the Korean Baseball Organization. The 24-year-old is on track to make his regular season debut against the St. Louis Cardinals on March 28 after Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Tyler Glasnow take the hill for the two-game series in Korea against the San Diego Padres on March 20-21. The former 29th overall pick by LA in 2020 out of Louisville really impressed in his rookie season in 2023 with a 3.76 ERA and 1.10 WHIP while walking 32 and striking out 119 in his first 22 starts. Miller has elite velocity and six different pitches to work with. He's ranked as RotoBaller's No. 22 fantasy starter in just his second MLB campaign.
