Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Corbin Carroll made his spring debut on Saturday during a 6-2 Cactus League win over the Colorado Rockies. The reigning NL Rookie of the Year was not a factor, however, going hitless in two at-bats and drawing a walk in his third plate appearance. He was then taken out for a pinch runner. One spring training game does not a season make, however, and Carroll figures to be one of the top offensive weapons in all of real-life and fantasy baseball this season. The former first-round draft pick will look to build upon his 2023 All-Star campaign after he tallied a .285-25-76-116-54 line in 155 games. Carroll is ranked fifth overall at RotoBaller and is being taken around the same pick in 2024 fantasy drafts. At that pick, managers have to decide whether they want the HR/RBI upside of Mookie Betts or lower (yet respectable) totals in those categories from Carroll but with 40 more stolen bases than the Los Angeles Dodger second baseman.

Atlanta Braves first baseman Matt Olson made his spring debut on Sunday in a 5-4 Grapefruit League loss to the Boston Red Sox. Last year's MLB home run leader drew a walk on four pitches in his first at-bat, then took a swing at the first pitch he saw in the next at-bat which resulted in a rare infield single for the plodding slugger. The 2x All-Star had a career year in 2023, putting up a .283-54-139-127-1 line and allowing Braves fans to firmly put the days of Freddie Freeman in the rearview mirror. The 2023 Silver Slugger Award winner has played all 162 games his first two seasons in Atlanta and another 40 home run, 100 RBI, and 100 runs scored campaign should be in the offing in 2024. Olson is rightfully the second first baseman off the board in drafts as he won't help in the stolen base category (unlike the aforementioned Freddie Freeman), but is a rock-solid second-round pick for fantasy.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have traded outfielder Manuel Margot to the Minnesota Twins in exchange for shortstop Noah Miller. At this time, it's unclear who the Dodgers have received in return. It was certainly a short tenure for Margot in the Dodgers organization after the club acquired him as part of the trade that also landed them right-hander Tyler Glasnow on Dec. 15. The veteran hit .264 with four home runs and nine stolen bases in a platoon role in Tampa Bay last season, appearing in just 99 games and fewer than 100 contests for the second straight season. He could be deployed similarly with the Twins in 2024 as he should take over right field from the lefty-swinging Max Kepler versus left-handed pitching.

Miami Marlins pitcher Eury Perez is trying out a new curveball grip that he and pitching coach Mel Stottlemyre have come up with in spring training. Perez noted the curveball looks good in bullpen sessions, but he needs to trust it more. The towering 6-foot-8 righty made his big-league debut at just 20 years of age in the 2023 season and worked to a 3.15 ERA across 19 starts, but the club limited his workload after throwing just 77 innings in the minors in the 2022 season. Perez should be given a much longer leash in the 2024 season, especially with ace Sandy Alcantara (elbow) out for the season due to Tommy John surgery. He is certainly worth an investment on draft day and is a dynasty league gem moving forward.

Detroit Tigers pitcher Jack Flaherty worked a perfect inning in his spring debut with the team on Monday versus the Houston Astros. The veteran was brought into Detroit on a one-year, $14 million deal this offseason after he struggled between the Cardinals and Orioles in the 2023 campaign. The 28-year-old posted a 4.99 ERA across 29 outings (27 starts) but struggled mightily following a trade-deadline deal to the O's where he posted a 6.75 ERA in 34 2/3 innings of work. However, the 2023 season was also his healthiest full campaign since 2019, and he will get a shot at taking the ball every fifth day with the Tigers in 2024. He could be a solid late-round sleeper as he posted a 3.22 ERA as recently as the 2021 season and is coming off his first healthy offseason in some time.
