Marquee Sports Network's Bruce Levine reported Monday that Chicago Cubs catching prospect Moises Ballesteros is expected to be called up to likely start in Tuesday's game against the Marlins. This will be a corresponding move as Ian Happ (oblique) gets placed on the injured list with an oblique issue. The 21-year-old Ballesteros is the Cubs No. 4 prospect, per MLB Pipeline. He has crushed the baseball this season with Triple-A Iowa, slashing .368/.420/.522 with four home runs, 18 RBI, and three stolen bases in 150 plate appearances. Ballesteros has produced high batting averages and slugging percentages throughout his career, making him an intriguing fantasy player at a weak position. Fantasy managers may not want to pick him up right away without seeing him in big-league action, but they should keep a close eye on his first few games.

New York Yankees pitcher Clarke Schmidt (1-1) allowed three runs on three hits over six innings in his team's 11-5 win over the Seattle Mariners. Schmidt issued two free passes and struck out six to improve to (1-1) on the season. He tossed 62 of 92 pitches for strikes (10 whiffs), bolstering a strong 32% CSW, logging his second consecutive quality start. The 29-year-old pitched well for the most part, but all three hits against him went for extra bases, and two of them left the yard via Jorge Polanco and Julio Rodriguez. While his ERA (4.73) may not have caught up yet, Schmidt is actually pitching pretty well -- affording opposing batters a .211 xBA and enjoying solid quality of contact metrics. Additionally, it's encouraging to see him reach six innings in each of his last two starts. He'll look to keep up the momentum in his next one, which could come later this week against the Yanks' cross-town rivals, the New York Mets.

Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Corbin Carroll went 2-for-3 with two home runs and a walk in Monday's 2-1 victory against the San Francisco Giants. He accounted for both of his team's runs and collected his third multi-homer game of 2025. The former first-round pick hit a pair of long balls off veteran pitcher Justin Verlander, providing enough run support for starter Merrill Kelly to nab his fourth win. Carroll has been electric this season -- up to 13 dingers and one off of league leaders Kyle Schwarber and Aaron Judge. His stolen bases are down, but it's hard to find trouble with that when he's unlocked power of this magnitude. To no surprise, the 24-year-old boasts career-highs in average exit velocity (93.8 MPH) and hard-hit rate (54.8%) that far surpass the figures he'd held prior.

Texas Rangers starting pitcher Tyler Mahle (4-1) yielded one earned run on four hits and a walk over 6 1/3 innings in his team's 2-1 victory against the Colorado Rockies. He struck out five while earning his fourth win of the season. The 30-year-old faced the minimum number of batters in four frames on Monday and allowed just one extra-base hit -- a Hunter Goodman double to lead off the top of the seventh. Mahle has been fantastic in 2025, sporting a 1.47 ERA and 0.96 WHIP through nine starts (49 innings). His strikeouts are up slightly from 2024 (19.3%), when he pitched just 12 2/3 innings while dealing with elbow and shoulder ailments. However, it's a far cry from the strikeout rates he posted earlier in his career. This is a different version of him than we're used to, but he's still been effective -- even if he is out-pitching his metrics by a good bit (4.10 xFIP).
