Gustavo Campero Hits 10-Day Injured List

The Los Angeles Angels have placed outfielder Gustavo Campero (ankle) on the 10-day injured list due to left ankle inflammation. This transaction was retroactive to May 7. In a corresponding move, the Angels promoted outfielder Matthew Lugo from Triple-A Salt Lake. The 27-year-old suffered this ankle injury during Tuesday's contest against the Toronto Blue Jays. Campero joined the MLB on April 30 and has gone 2-for-10 through his first week of the season. He has swiped one bag and held a 2:2 K:BB. Last season, Campero made his MLB debut and held a .239 AVG across his first 13 games in the majors. While he is sidelined, fantasy managers should expect Taylor Ward and Jo Adell to remain the top options at left and right field. Lugo is the No. 13-ranked prospect in the system and could eventually earn a role in the outfield.

Reds Calling Up Chase Petty

With right-hander Hunter Greene (groin) going on the 15-day injured list on Friday, the Cincinnati Reds are recalling right-handed pitching prospect Chase Petty from Triple-A Louisville, according to The Cincinnati Enquirer's Charlie Goldsmith. Petty will return to the big leagues and fill in for Greene in Cincy's starting rotation for a few turns. The 22-year-old didn't fare so well in his big-league debut on April 30 in a start against the St. Louis Cardinals, surrendering nine earned runs on seven hits (two homers) while walking two and striking out three in 2 1/3 innings. The former first-rounder and No. 7-ranked Reds prospect, per MLB Pipeline, has a 2.79 ERA and 1.14 WHIP with 35 K's and 12 walks in six starts for Louisville. Petty will get a slightly longer look this time and has plenty of strikeout upside as primarily a fastball, slider and cutter pitcher.

Hayden Wesneski Placed On 15-Day Injured List

The Houston Astros have placed right-handed pitcher Hayden Wesneski (elbow) on the 15-day injured list with a sore elbow. In a corresponding move, the Astros recalled right-handed pitcher Logan VanWey. The 27-year-old only logged four innings in his most recent outing. In this start, he allowed a season-high four runs to the Milwaukee Brewers. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status as the right-hander will miss at least the next two weeks of action. Through his first 32 innings of work this season, Wesneski has held a 4.50 ERA with an impressive 1.09 WHIP. During this stretch, the 27-year-old has struck out 29 batters and served up six walks. While he remains sidelined, fantasy managers should expect Ryan Gusto to rejoin the starting rotation.

Austin Hays Activated And Starting On Friday

The Cincinnati Reds activated outfielder Austin Hays (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list on Friday, according to The Cincinnati Enquirer's Charlie Goldsmith. In corresponding moves, the Reds optioned outfielders Blake Dunn and Jacob Hurtubise and recalled outfielder Will Benson from Triple-A Louisville. Hays is serving as the designated hitter and batting cleanup in Friday's series opener against the Houston Astros and right-hander Hunter Brown in his return. The 29-year-old spent the minimum 10 days on the IL with a minor hamstring strain. Fantasy managers are hoping he can pick up where he left off after going 19-for-52 (.365) with five homers, 13 RBI, 15 runs and a stolen base in his first 13 games. Hays is a mixed-league fantasy asset as an everyday player hitting in the middle of the Reds' batting order. He's hit .333 with a 1.166 OPS, a homer and three RBI in six career at-bats against Brown.

Hunter Greene Placed On 15-Day Injured List With Groin Strain

The Cincinnati Reds placed right-hander Hunter Greene (groin) on the 15-day injured list on Friday with a Grade 1 right-groin strain that he suffered in his outing on Wednesday against the Atlanta Braves, according to The Cincinnati Enquirer's Charlie Goldsmith. In a corresponding move, the Reds are calling up right-handed pitching prospect Chase Petty. It's a bummer for Greene's fantasy managers, but the good news is he isn't dealing with a serious groin strain and could be back in Cincy's starting rotation when he's eligible to come off the IL in a couple weeks. It's entirely possible that the hard-throwing 25-year-old will only miss a couple of starts. The former second overall pick in 2017 has been a must-start fantasy pitcher in 2025, going 4-2 with a 2.36 ERA and 0.81 WHIP with 61 strikeouts in 45 2/3 innings. Petty is the club's No. 6 prospect, per MLB Pipeline.
