Joey Bart Remains Out Versus Nationals

Pittsburgh Pirates catcher Joey Bart (back) remains out of the starting lineup for Wednesday's contest against the visiting Washington Nationals at PNC Park. It's the fifth straight missed game after he came down with lower-back soreness late last week. With Endy Rodriguez (finger) landing on the injured list on Tuesday, Henry Davis will make another start behind the plate to catch left-hander Bailey Falter while batting ninth against Nationals left-hander Mitchell Parker. The Bucs finish their series with the Nats on Thursday, but if Bart isn't ready for Friday's series opener in Pittsburgh against the Cleveland Guardians, he may land on the injured list. Davis, the former first overall pick in 2021 out of Louisville, has struggled to find his footing offensively in the big leagues and has gone 2-for-13 so far in 2025. He'll be a poor DFS play on Wednesday and has never faced Parker in his career.

Lane Thomas Returns To Lineup On Wednesday

Cleveland Guardians outfielder Lane Thomas (wrist) is finally returning to the starting lineup on Wednesday against the Baltimore Orioles and right-hander Dean Kremer at Camden Yards for the first time since April 8. Thomas will start in center field and bat fifth in the lineup. The 29-year-old missed the last six games due to a bruised right wrist from a hit-by-pitch in the team's home opener. Fantasy managers may want to keep Thomas on the bench, as he has started the 2025 season going just 5-for-31 (.161) with no home runs, two RBI and one stolen base in nine games played. He's also hit just .111 in a small sample size of nine career at-bats against Kremer. Angel Martinez has shifted to right field and is batting sixth on Wednesday, with both Nolan Jones and Jhonkensy Noel starting on the bench for Cleveland.

Kyle Bradish On Track To Return Later This Summer

Baltimore Orioles right-hander Kyle Bradish's (elbow) recovery from Tommy John surgery is "flying along" as well as it could be, according to general manager Mike Elias. Bradish is right on track in his recovery and could return in the later half of the summer. The 28-year-old threw his first bullpen session last Saturday since he had TJ surgery last June. While he had an ERA under 3.00 in each of the last two seasons, he only made eight starts in 2024 before being shut down with elbow issues before needing elbow reconstruction. When Bradish does return, he'll have his innings managed, which will lower his fantasy ceiling. For now, he should remain on the waiver wire in most single-year fantasy leagues. In 30 starts in his second MLB season in 2023, Bradish went 12-7 with a 2.83 ERA and 1.04 WHIP with 168 strikeouts and 44 walks in 168 2/3 frames over 30 starts.

Andrew Kittredge's Recovery "Flying Along"

Baltimore Orioles right-handed reliever Andrew Kittredge's (knee) recovery from left-knee surgery is "flying along," according to general manager Mike Elias. Kittredge will throw live batting practice the week after next before going on a minor-league rehab assignment. Barring a setback along the way, the 35-year-old veteran could return from the injured list before the end of May. Kittredge threw his first bullpen session over the weekend after having arthroscopic knee surgery. It sounds like he is recovery very nicely, but he might still be over a month away from making his debut with the Orioles. When healthy, Kittredge figures to be in the mix as a high-leverage, late-inning bullpen arm for the O's. He was an All-Star in 2021 and had a 2.80 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and one save in 70 2/3 innings with the St. Louis Cardinals a year ago. He hasn't had an ERA over 3.15 since 2019 and also sports 16 career saves.

Grayson Rodriguez To Throw His Third Bullpen On Thursday

Baltimore Orioles right-hander Grayson Rodriguez (elbow) will throw his third bullpen session on Thursday, according to MLB.com's Jake Rill. There's still no timetable for his return, though, as there is "a lot ahead" in his recovery. The 25-year-old is progressing in his recovery from right-elbow inflammation that cropped up during spring training, but he has yet to suffer a setback. He will need to start facing live hitters next before eventually being cleared to go on a minor-league rehab assignment. Because Baltimore won't rush Rodriguez to make his 2025 debut, fantasy managers probably shouldn't expect him to return until early May in a best-case scenario. The former first-rounder was shut down early last year due to a lat strain but was solid before that in his second MLB season, going 13-4 with a 3.86 ERA and 1.24 WHIP with 130 K's and 36 walks in 20 starts. Stash Rodriguez in all fantasy formats.
