Carlos Estevez Earns Fourth Save

Kansas City Royals relief pitcher Carlos Estevez has been busy on the mound early in the season. Estevez was called upon on Thursday to hold a one-run lead against the Minnesota Twins. The right-hander got himself into a jam by allowing a single and hitting Harrison Bader with a pitch. Despite that, Estevez worked around the base runners and secured his fourth save of the season. The veteran right-hander appears to be the primary closer for the Royals right now. That being said, Estevez should be rostered in most fantasy formats where saves matter.

Trevor Story Picks Up Two Hits, Two Steals In Walk-Off Win Over Blue Jays

Boston Red Sox shortstop Trevor Story went 2-for-5 with two singles, an RBI and two stolen bases in the team's 4-3 walk-off win against the division-rival Toronto Blue Jays on Thursday at Fenway Park, but it was his squibber off the end of the bat to second base with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 10th inning that ended up being the difference. Toronto second baseman Andres Gimenez bobbled the exchange to get the force out at home plate, allowing the winning run to score for the Red Sox. The 32-year-old Story is now hitting .264 on the season with a below-average .687 OPS in 14 games played, but he has turned it around since picking up only two hits in his first 15 at-bats. The two-time All-Star is trying to fend off shortstop prospect Marcelo Mayer this year and hasn't played in over 100 games since 2021 due to injuries. Story's high strikeout rate will continue to be a problem if he can stay healthy.

Marcell Ozuna Mashes Walk-Off Winner

Atlanta Braves designated hitter Marcell Ozuna was Thursday night's hero for the Braves, going 3-for-5 and hitting a two-run, walk-off home run in the 11th inning of the team's 4-1 win. Ozuna jumped on an 0-1 slider from Joe Ross and lined it 413 feet into the left-center field seats. The game didn't wrap up until almost 1:00 a.m. ET after a rain delay, but at least the fans who stayed went home happy after the Braves took two of three games from the Phillies and went 3-2 on their homestand after their disastrous road trip to start the season. Ozuna is hitting .316 (12-for-38) with two homers, seven RBI, 15 walks, and a .459 wOBA. He and the Braves will look to carry their momentum into their weekend series against the Rays in Tampa.

Garrett Mitchell Still In Search Of First Home Run

Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Garrett Mitchell went 0-for-2 with a walk before being lifted for a pinch hitter on Thursday afternoon in Colorado. Mitchell left Coors Field still looking for his first long ball of the season after going 2-for-8 for the series with his first stolen base of the season. The 26-year-old lefty is hitting .258 (8-for-31) with two doubles, four walks, a .065 ISO, and a .317 wOBA. He has been platooning with Isaac Collins, which has limited his chances, but he has a 45.5% hard-hit rate and .341 xwOBA, which indicates some positive regression could be around the corner for him as the Brewers continue their road trip with a stop in Arizona to face the Diamondbacks this weekend.

Carlos Correa Continues Slow Start

Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa went 0-for-4 on Thursday afternoon against the Royals and is hitting just .149 (7-for-47) in his first 13 games this season. He began the year with an 0-for-18 stretch and is just 5-for-26 (.192) over his last seven games. Correa does have four doubles, four walks, and five runs scored in his 13 games, and his 41.0% hard-hit rate is not a drastic drop from last year's mark. He had a slow spring training as well and hasn't been able to find his rhythm yet at the plate. After the loss on Thursday, the Twins have struggled to a 4-9 start to the season, and they'll come home this weekend to host their division-rival Tigers for a three-game set.
