Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Garrett Mitchell is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's contest against the hosting Washington Nationals and left-hander DJ Herz. The 25-year-old doubled and drove in a pair of runs on Friday but will take a seat and give way to Blake Perkins in center field on Saturday. Mitchell has been plagued by injuries during his young career but has been rather productive when healthy as a career .280 hitter with six homers, 11 stolen bases, and a .347 wOBA across 209 trips to the plate. There does seem to be some combination of pop and speed with Mitchell that fantasy managers will want to keep an eye on but he remains off the fantasy radar for redraft managers down the stretch.
The Milwaukee Brewers reinstated outfielder Garrett Mitchell (finger) from the 60-day injured list on Monday and optioned infielder Tyler Black to Triple-A Nashville in a corresponding move. The Brewers also designated infielder Owen Miller for assignment. It remains to be seen if Mitchell will be in the team's starting lineup on Monday for the series opener at Coors Field against the Colorado Rockies, but whenever he gets into a game, it will be his season debut after missing the first three months of 2024 with a fractured finger. There's a crowded outfield already in Milwaukee, so fantasy managers can't expect the former first-rounder to see regular playing time among Christian Yelich, Blake Perkins, Sal Frelick and Jackson Chourio. In 12 minor-league rehab games for Nashville, Mitchell looked good, hitting .318 with four home runs and four steals.
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Garrett Mitchell (hamstring) left Wednesday's rehab game in the ninth inning due to a hamstring injury, according to Jack Stern of the Brewer Fanatic. Mitchell was enjoying a nice game where he tallied two hits including one double and a round-tripper with two RBI. This was Mitchell's tenth game at Triple-A during the stint and 12th overall rehab game. During these rehab games, Mitchell has performed very well with a .298/.411/.596 line. The former UCLA Bruin was nearing a return to the majors but may have to wait a bit longer with this minor setback. Dynasty managers should pay close attention to Michell's status during the weekend.
