Ezequiel Tovar, Kris Bryant Resting Against Brewers

After a 17-2 drubbing on Wednesday night by the Milwaukee Brewers, Colorado Rockies shortstop Ezequiel Tovar and designated hitter Kris Bryant will get the day off for Thursday's series finale at Coors Field. Catcher Hunter Goodman is also getting the day off. Kyle Farmer will start at short and bat third, Nick Martini will serve as the DH and hit fifth, and Jacob Stalling will do the catching and bat in the nine-hole against Brewers right-hander Quinn Priester. Stallings is the only one of the replacements that has faced Priester in his career, and he has one hit in just two at-bats. This will be Tovar's first day off of the 2025 season. He's started the year by going 13-for-47 (.277) but has yet to go deep in 49 plate appearances. Bryant, a former MVP back in 2016, has stayed healthy, but he's gone just 6-for-31 with no homers, two walks and 10 strikeouts in eight games played.

Ethan Salas Snaps Skid At Double-A

San Diego Padres catching prospect Ethan Salas went 3-for-5 with two RBI and a stolen base during Wednesday's contest. This was a much-needed breakout game for Salas as he tallied just one hit with a 0:2 BB:K across the first three games of the Double-A regular season. Salas is considered one of the top catching prospects in the sport at just 18 years old. Last summer, the backstop spent his entire campaign with High-A Fort Wayne and went through some growing pains as he posted an overall .206/.288/.311 line with just four long balls. He hit 27 doubles, swiped 10 bags, and held a 47:98 BB:K. However, in the second half of the 2024 season, he began to turn the corner and appears to be carrying some momentum into the early part of the 2025 campaign. Even though he is still several seasons away from his MLB debut, he is worth monitoring in dynasty formats.

Sal Stewart Posts Second Three-Hit Game Of The Season

Cincinnati Reds infield prospect Sal Stewart went 3-for-5 with two doubles during their contest on Wednesday evening. This was Stewart's second three-hit performance of the young campaign. Through the first four games of the Double-A regular season, Stewart has tallied at least one hit in each contest and holds an overall .444/.500/.778 slash line with three doubles and one long ball. He has also swiped a bag in each game. The 21-year-old spent his entire 2024 season with High-A Dayton and held a .279/.391/.454 slash line with 23 doubles and eight round-trippers. He is worth keeping a close eye on in dynasty formats as he has yet to show any signs of slowing down during his first taste of Double-A. If he continues this steady production, he could see time at Triple-A in the second half.

Kyle Isbel, Hunter Renfroe, Michael Massey Out On Thursday

Kansas City Royals outfielders Kyle Isbel and Hunter Renfroe and second baseman Michael Massey are all sitting in Thursday's series finale against the division-rival Minnesota Twins. Drew Waters is starting in center field and batting ninth, Cavan Biggio is in right field and hitting fifth, and Maikel Garcia is at the keystone and is batting sixth against Twins right-hander Bailey Ober. Isbel has gone 8-for-30 with a homer, double and three RBI in his first 11 games, while both Renfroe and Massey have struggled to get going early on in the 2025 season for the Royals. Garcia is probably the best DFS bet as a sleeper on Thursday, as he's hitting .308 (12-for-39) with two homers, three doubles, six RBI and a steal in 12 games so far this year. He's hit just .143 in seven career at-bats against Ober, but it's come with a home run and two RBI.

Johnathan Rodriguez Optioned To Triple-A

Cleveland Guardians outfield prospect Johnathan Rodriguez was optioned to Triple-A Columbus on Wednesday. Rodriguez made the Opening Day roster but did not find consistent at-bats. As a result, the team will opt for their No. 13-ranked prospect to see more playing time with Triple-A Columbus. In his brief look at the majors this season, he went 0-for-5 with three strikeouts. The 25-year-old also saw a brief taste of the big leagues last summer as he held a .129/.325/.161 line across 13 contests. However, Rodriguez performed very well with Triple-A Columbus last season and could push for an early return to the majors this summer if he picks up where he left off. Across 118 contests, the outfielder posted an impressive .301/.390/.540 slash line 18 doubles with 29 long balls. He is worth closely monitoring in AL-only formats.
