Clay Holmes Strikes Out 10 In Win Over Marlins

New York Mets starting pitcher Clay Holmes turned in a double-digit strikeout performance on Tuesday, punching out 10 in a 10-5 win over the Marlins. He allowed four runs on five hits and three walks over 5 innings. He had a 36% whiff rate in the start, and his effectiveness was spread out between all of his pitches. His fastball, slider, and changeup each had an individual whiff rate of 50%. His control and efficiency weren't amazing this time out, but at least he flashed the strikeout upside that many fantasy managers envisioned when they drafted him.

Mark Canha Leaves Game With Possible Injury

Kansas City Royals outfielder Mark Canha was removed in the top of the sixth inning after colliding with the wall in an attempt to make a catch earlier in the game. He didn't exit the game immediately so the injury isn't likely to be extremely serious, but there's no indication yet on what the injury may be. The veteran is 5-for-17 on the season as the short side of a platoon, as he has historically been much more productive against lefties than righties.

Liam Hendriks Close To Rehab Assignment

Boston Red Sox relief pitcher Liam Hendriks (elbow) threw a successful bullpen session on Monday and is likely to begin a minor-league rehab assignment by the weekend, reports Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com. This could put Hendriks on track to return in late April, and he figures to be in the mix for high-leverage opportunities with Aroldis Chapman and Justin Slaten. The Red Sox haven't committed to either as their full-time closer, so Hendriks could be worth a speculative add in deeper fantasy leagues where saves are hard to find.

Pablo Lopez Exits Early With Hamstring Injury

Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Pablo Lopez (hamstring) left the game with trainers in the fifth inning while grabbing at the back of his right leg. He was in the middle of a solid outing, giving up one unearned run on three hits and a walk while striking out six over 4 2/3 innings. There has yet to be an official injury designation, but expect an update from the Twins soon. It would hurt to lose the ace of their staff, who is coming off of a 15-win season in 2024 where he posted a 4.08 ERA and 1.19 WHIP.UPDATE: Lopez was diagnosed with right-hamstring tightness.

Ryan Mountcastle Absent On Tuesday

Baltimore Orioles first baseman Ryan Mountcastle is out of the lineup on Tuesday against the Diamondbacks. Instead, Ryan O'Hearn will man first base while Adley Rutschman shifts to DH. This is likely just a breather for the slugger, who has played in each of Baltimore's last eight games. On the season, he is batting .324 with a .359 OBP but has yet to hit his first long ball of the season. He'll be looking to improve on the 13 he hit last year, now that the left field fence has been moved in at Camden Yards.
