Gabriel Gonzalez Swinging A Hot Bat At High-A

Minnesota Twins outfield prospect Gabriel Gonzalez has posted an impressive .462/.500/.923 slash line through his first three games of the High-A regular season. Gonzalez was named Midwest League Player of the Week due to his elite performance. He tallied three doubles, one home run, and held a 1:2 BB:K. He tallied three RBI and scored two runs. Gonzalez is considered the No. 21 prospect in the Minnesota system on MLB Pipeline. Last summer, the 21-year-old spent most of the campaign at High-A and held a modest .253/.327/.379 across 76 games. He held a 22:49 BB:K and hit only four long balls. Fantasy managers should expect Gonzalez to contend for an early-season Double-A debut, especially if he continues to remain productive.

Mark Vientos Is Struggling Early In The Season

New York Mets third baseman Mark Vientos is just 4-for-35 (.114) in his first 10 games this season and is still searching for his first home run of the 2025 regular season. Two of those four hits have been doubles, and the 25-year-old is staying patient at the plate, as evidenced by his three walks in Monday's win over the Marlins. Vientos has hit fifth or sixth in the Mets' batting order and started each of the team's 10 games. He's still locked into an everyday role, but he has just a 29.6% hard-hit rate this season, according to Statcast, which is a big decline from his 46.6% hard-hit rate last year. It's still early, for sure, but Vientos needs to rediscover his power swing to deliver on his huge fantasy potential.

Andres Munoz Closes Out Mariners Win

Seattle Mariners relief pitcher Andres Munoz picked up his fourth save of the season on Monday night, moving within one save of the Major League lead. Munoz has shut the door on each of the Mariners' four wins this season and held the Astros without a runner in a clean inning that included a strikeout of Yainer Diaz. He has not allowed a run in five innings over five games while issuing four walks and allowing two hits but also recording eight strikeouts. He's one of the top closers in the American League and should continue to anchor the back end of the Mariners' bullpen. Seattle should continue to be in enough close games that he stays among the league leaders in saves most of this season.

Griff McGarry Strikes Out Eight In Season Debut

Philadelphia Phillies pitching prospect Griff McGarry tossed four shutout innings in his season debut on Sunday. McGarry did not allow a hit or a walk and struck out eight batters. This was an impressive debut for McGarry, who battled numerous injuries last summer. In 2024, McGarry was only able to log 31 2/3 innings of work. He spent most of his time with Triple-A Lehigh Valley, where he held a 4.70 ERA with a 1.92 WHIP across 30 2/3 innings. However, the Phillies opted for McGarry to begin the 2025 campaign with Double-A. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his progress with Reading as he should contend for an early promotion to Triple-A. The former fifth-round pick is considered the No. 30 prospect in the system on MLB.com. If he can carry this success into Triple-A, he could push for a second-half MLB debut.

Ryne Stanek Secures First Save Of The Season

New York Mets relief pitcher Ryne Stanek earned his first save of the season in the Mets' 2-0 win over the Marlins on Monday night. The Mets have won five straight games to improve to 7-3 on the season, but regular closer Edwin Diaz pitched in both Saturday and Sunday's one-run victories. To avoid going to him for a third straight game, manager Carlos Mendoza called on Stanek for the ninth inning. The 33-year-old righty had no issues, recording three straight outs, including a strikeout of Eric Wagaman. So far this season, Stanek has allowed one hit and two walks while facing 10 batters over 2 1/3 innings. He will return to his role as a setup man for Diaz, but it looks like he's next in line for saves when Diaz is unavailable.
