Walker Jenkins Off To Slow Start After Ankle Injury

Minnesota Twins outfield prospect Walker Jenkins (ankle) has tallied just one hit through his first two games of the Double-A regular season. He suffered this ankle injury during camp, but it was not considered serious. Fantasy managers should expect the team to continue to monitor Jenkins' workload as he missed time in 2024 due to a hamstring injury. Last summer, the No. 3 prospect in the sport split time between Low-A and High-A. In 33 games at Low-A, Jenkins held a .273/.404/.413 slash line with six doubles and three home runs. In 34 games with High-A Cedar Rapids posted a strong .290/.382/.481 line. Fantasy managers should expect Jenkins to push for a Triple-A debut later in the season, which will open the door for a 2026 MLB debut.

Rays Place Jonny DeLuca On 10-Day Injured List With Shoulder Strain

The Tampa Bay Rays placed outfielder Jonny DeLuca (shoulder) on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday with a right-shoulder strain and recalled infielder Coco Montes in a corresponding move, according to the Tampa Bay Times' Marc Topkin. It's bad timing, as DeLuca had started off his second season with the Rays strong, going 10-for-23 with a triple, RBI, four stolen bases and four runs scored in his first nine games. It seems unlikely that the 26-year-old outfielder will be ready to return from the IL when he's eligible to be activated on April 17, but hopefully he'll be able to rejoin the major-league roster before the end of April. DeLuca joins Josh Lowe (oblique) and Richie Palacios (finger) on the IL, giving both young outfielders Kameron Misner and Jake Mangum a clear path to regular playing time in the season's first month in Tampa.

Royce Lewis Weeks Away From Starting Rehab Assignment

Although Minnesota Twins third baseman Royce Lewis (hamstring) was cleared last weekend to start a running progression, the Minneapolis Star Tribune's Phil Miller reports that Lewis is around three weeks from being cleared to start a minor-league rehab assignment. "Any time they let me do something more, it's always pretty good," said Lewis. "I'll probably run three days in a row, take a break, then try to get on the bases. It's a long progression," Lewis said. The 25-year-old is feeling better since straining his left hamstring in spring training on March 16, but even if he avoids setbacks as he rehabs, it doesn't look like he'll be making his 2025 season debut until sometime in May. Lewis has plenty of power at the hot corner, but he continues to be set back by injuries. Jose Miranda and Willi Castro will continue to split time at third in Minnesota until Lewis is able to return.

David Peterson Lined Up To Start On Saturday

The New York Mets have left-hander David Peterson (illness) lined up to make his next start this Saturday against the Athletics at Sutter Health Park in Sacramento. Peterson wasn't feeling great in his last start on Sunday against the Toronto Blue Jays, when he allowed an earned run on three hits while walking five and striking out three for a no-decision in 4 2/3 innings of work. The 29-year-old southpaw should be feeling much better by Saturday and will have a great matchup against the A's on the road. Peterson had a quality start and his first win of the season in his first outing of the year on March 31 against the division-rival Miami Marlins, allowing two earned runs on five hits (two solo homers) while walking three and striking out nine. Fantasy managers will be hoping for something similar in his third outing this weekend.

Cody Bellinger Out Tuesday With Food Poisoning

New York Yankees outfielder Cody Bellinger (illness) is out of the team's starting lineup on Tuesday against the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park with food poisoning. Manager Aaron Boon said Bellinger was "throwing up all night." To Boone's knowledge, nobody else on the team is sick. The 29-year-old ate some bad chicken wings last night, but he could be back in there for Wednesday's series finale. Trent Grisham is getting another start in center field on Tuesday against Tigers left-hander Tarik Skubal and is batting eighth in the lineup. While Grisham is off to a strong start in 2025 with a .423 average (11-for-26) with three homers, a double and nine RBI in his first nine games for the Bombers, we wouldn't recommend starting him in DFS on Tuesday against the reigning American League Cy Young winner.
