Yainer Diaz Homers In Second Straight Game

Houston Astros catcher Yainer Diaz went 1-for-4 with a three-run homer in Tuesday's victory against the St. Louis Cardinals. The home run would be his second in as many games and his fifth of the season. Diaz is now hitting .249 and has driven in 28 runs this season. The 25-year-old backstop entered the season as a popular sleeper behind the dish, but struggled before the beginning of this week. It's nice to see Diaz enjoy the Cardinals pitching and hopefully this is a sign of better times to come from here on out. Diaz remains the Astros everyday catcher and is a worthy option in most formats moving forward.

Masyn Winn Stays Hot In Loss

St. Louis Cardinals shortstop Masyn Winn went 3-for-3 with a walk and two-run homer in Tuesday's loss versus the Houston Astros. Winn's big performance raised his batting average to .309 on the season to go along with three homers, 21 RBI and eight stolen bases. The 22-year-old has really taken a step forward this season and the power is beginning to come around with all of his homers coming in the past 15 games. Over the past month, he has hit .358 and managers should consider his value at its peak for this season in redraft leagues, making him a good sell-high candidate. Winn will look to continue his hot streak when the Cardinals take on the Houston Astros and Ronel Blanco on Wednesday.

Andres Munoz Exits Tuesday After Home-Plate Collision

Seattle Mariners closer Andres Munoz (back) exited Tuesday's 4-3 win against the Athletics early after colliding with Max Schuemann on a play at the plate. Munoz entered the game to pitch the bottom of the ninth inning up by two. He got the first out on a strikeout, allowed a single, got the second out on a fly-out, allowed another single, and collided with Schuemann on a play at the plate due to a wild pitch. Munoz attempted to throw several warm-up pitches but left the game. The 25-year-old has been dealing with a lower-back strain the past couple of weeks, which may have flared up after the collision. He will get an MRI to determine the severity. Fantasy managers should keep an eye out for more news, but this would be a big loss if Munoz were to miss time, as he has converted 12 of 13 save opportunities with a 1.73 ERA and a 12.46 K/9. Tayler Saucedo picked up a save (his second of the year) in one-third of an inning, and he and Ryne Stanek could be candidates for saves moving forward if Munoz's injury is serious enough to put him on the injured list.

Ian Happ Collects Three Hits In Tuesday's Win

Chicago Cubs outfielder Ian Happ played his part offensively in Tuesday's 7-6 win over the White Sox. Happ went 3-for-4 with a single, two doubles, two RBI, and a strikeout. This included a go-ahead RBI double in the eighth inning to bring in what would be the winning run. The 29-year-old has had a disappointing fantasy season overall and has yet to find a rhythm, slashing .232/.335/.394 with six home runs, 26 RBI, and two stolen bases in 236 plate appearances. While outfield has been a relatively weak position for fantasy this season, fantasy managers can likely find useful alternatives on the waiver wire in shallower leagues at this time.

Hector Neris Earns Eighth Save Of Season Tuesday

Chicago Cubs closer Hector Neris picked up his eighth save of the season in Tuesday's 7-6 win over the White Sox. Neris came in to pitch the top of the ninth inning up by one. He got the first out on a line-out, walked a batter, allowed a stolen base but then picked the runner off, and ended the game with a pop-out. The 34-year-old veteran did not enter the season as the team's closer but has converted all but two opportunities with a 2.86 ERA, a 7.36 K/9 rate, and a 6.55 BB/9 rate. Neris is worth rostering in all roto leagues at least given his current role, but his strikeouts have taken a dip and his walks have spiked. Fantasy managers should be wary of these trends potentially hurting him at some point, but he is a useful fantasy option for now.
