Toronto Blue Jays relief pitcher Yimi Garcia (elbow) threw off a mound without issue on Sunday, according to manager John Schneider. Garcia will throw off a mound again on Wednesday before the team decides his next steps. The 33-year-old right-hander has been out the last two weeks on the 15-day injured list with a nerve issue in his elbow, but he could skip a minor-league rehab assignment and return to Toronto's bullpen before the All-Star break in mid-July. Garcia's fantasy relevance went up when regular closer Jordan Romano (elbow) was shut down again from his throwing program recently. Chad Green has been serving as Toronto's ninth-inning man with both Garcia and Romano out, but when Garcia is able to return, he could take over those closing duties. Garcia is 3-0 on the year with a 2.57 ERA, a 0.79 WHIP, 37 K's and five saves in his 28 innings of work in 2024.

Toronto Blue Jays left-handed pitching prospect Ricky Tiedemann (elbow) will make his rehab start on Wednesday in Florida. Tiedemann was dominant in his last rehab outing for Single-A Dunedin last Wednesday, striking out five over 2 1/3 scoreless innings. The 21-year-old southpaw hasn't allowed a run while striking out nine and walking only two in 4 1/3 innings in his last two appearances for Dunedin and appears to be close to being activated from the seven-day injured list to return to Triple-A Buffalo to continue his development. Tiedemann, the team's top pitching prospect, has high-end upside at the next level, but the Blue Jays are going to play it safe with him and continue to build up his arm after he also dealt with an injury last year. It would not be a surprise if he does not make his big-league debut until 2025.

Los Angeles Angels infielder Brandon Drury (illness) is expected to return to the lineup on Tuesday against the division-rival Oakland Athletics, according to manager Ron Washington. Drury missed nine straight games due to an illness before entering the game as a pinch-hitter in Sunday's loss to the Detroit Tigers and going 0-for-2 with a strikeout. It sounds like the 31-year-old veteran is feeling better, though, and he should be available for the series opener on Tuesday in Oakland. Drury should be on the waiver wire in standard 12-team fantasy leagues, as he's played in only 33 games so far in 2024 and hasn't been good at all at the plate when he's been available, slashing just .170/.230/.232 with a .462 OPS, one homer, six RBI and 24 strikeouts in 122 plate appearances.

Pitcher Mike Vasil has leapfrogged New York Mets right-handed pitching prospect Christian Scott in the Triple-A Syracuse starting rotation to start on Monday in what would normally be Scott's spot. It's a pretty good indication that Scott will be recalled to the majors to make another start for the Mets this week. The team currently has a TBA in their rotation for Wednesday's contest versus the division-rival Washington Nationals. Fantasy managers will want to jump on the 25-year-old right away, as he should stick around in New York's rotation, at least until the All-Star break in mid-July. The team's No. 3 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, held his own in his first five big-league starts earlier this year, going 0-2 with a 3.90 ERA and 1.08 WHIP with 25 strikeouts in his 27 2/3 innings of work. Scott's workload will be monitored in the second half for sure, which limits his fantasy ceiling in 2024, but he can still be a deep-league streamer until then.UPDATE: Scott will return to start on Wednesday against the Nats, according to manager Carlos Mendoza.

San Diego Padres right-hander Randy Vasquez (forearm) has been cleared to make his next start on Friday against the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks. Vasquez left his last start after just 59 pitches on Friday night in Boston against the Red Sox and took a no-decision after being hit in the right forearm by a comebacker. In his four innings of work, he gave up only one earned run on five hits while striking out one and walking one. Thankfully, the 25-year-old avoided any structural damage in his arm and will not even miss a turn through the rotation. Still, he'll be a bit more risky for fantasy managers in deeper leagues against Arizona. Since returning to the Padres from Triple-A El Paso on June 1, Vasquez has gone 2-1 with a 4.20 ERA and 1.60 WHIP with 19 K's and nine walks in six starts covering 30 innings. He had a quality start in his first meeting with the D-backs on June 6, when he allowed three earned runs in 6 2/3 innings for a no-decision.
