Vladimir Guerrero Jr. In Monday's Lineup

Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (hand) is starting at first base and is batting third for the team on Canada Day on Monday against the visiting Houston Astros and right-hander Hunter Brown. Guerrero had X-rays on his right hand come back negative after he was hit in the hand by a pitch in the third inning of Sunday's loss to the New York Yankees. The fact that the 25-year-old stayed in for the whole game was a sign that the injury wasn't all that serious, and it's confirmed by the fact that he's back in the lineup a day later for the start of a new series. Vlad Jr. will look to take his current hitting streak to eight games on Monday. During his seven-game streak, he's gone 15-for-31 (.484) with five homers, five doubles and 19 RBI. Despite his injury score, fantasy managers must keep Guerrero in their starting lineups everywhere.

Eddie Rosario Designated For Assignment

The Washington Nationals designated veteran outfielder Eddie Rosario for assignment on Monday to make room for top outfield prospect James Wood on the active 40-man roster. Somebody had to go to make room for one of the best prospects in baseball, and it ended up being Rosario, who struggled to a .183/.226/.329 slash line in 219 at-bats this year while also carrying a measly .555 OPS, seven home runs, 26 RBI, eight stolen bases and 26 runs scored for the Nats. The 32-year-old left-handed hitter had an even worse .450 OPS in June to seal the deal. If Rosario clears waivers, he should latch on with another organization looking for a veteran left-handed bat. Rosario still has some pop in his lumber, but his days of contributing regularly for fantasy managers are probably over.

James Wood Officially Promoted Ahead Of MLB Debut

The Washington Nationals officially promoted outfield prospect James Wood from Triple-A Rochester on Monday and designated outfielder Eddie Rosario for assignment in a corresponding move. The news of Wood's eventual promotion this week broke at the end of last week, so he should now be rostered in all fantasy formats, if he wasn't already. The team's top prospect and No. 3 in all of baseball will make his debut on Monday against the New York Mets and left-hander David Peterson and will be a lineup regular moving forward. With clear 30-homer power from the left side, the 21-year-old will have immediate fantasy value in all formats. In 52 games for Rochester before being called up, Wood was hitting .353/.463/.595 with 10 home runs and 10 stolen bases despite missing some time with an injury.UPDATE: Wood is hitting sixth in the batting order in his MLB debut on Monday.

Danny Jansen Placed On Paternity List

The Toronto Blue Jays placed catcher Danny Jansen on the paternity list on Monday and recalled catcher Brian Serven from Triple-A Buffalo in a corresponding move. Jansen will likely miss the next three days and the series against the visiting Houston Astros to begin the first week in July. In his absence, Alejandro Kirk will serve as Toronto's primary catcher with Serven backing him up. Kirk is behind the plate for Canada Day on Monday and is batting eighth against Astros right-hander Hunter Brown. Jansen hit just .129 (8-for-62) with no homers, three doubles and 14 strikeouts in 20 games in June, so he'll be hoping to turn things around after returning from the paternity list. Kirk hasn't been much better this year, going 27-for-131 (.206) with only two homers and 18 RBI as Toronto's other catcher.

Zac Gallen Moved Up To Thursday This Week

The Arizona Diamondbacks plan is to get ace right-hander Zac Gallen pitching on every fifth day until the All-Star break in mid-July, moving his next start up a game to Thursday on the Fourth of July to face the division-rival Los Angeles Dodgers. Gallen returned from the 15-day injured list due to a hamstring injury on Saturday and tossed six scoreless innings in a win over the Oakland Athletics. "(Gallen) was really pounding the table to get as many starts as he possibly could prior to the break," manager Torey Lovullo said. "So we're going to full throttle him. We're going to go every fifth day with Zac, so you can plan that out." This plan will give Gallen three starts before the All-Star break instead of just two, which is good news for fantasy managers, but he'll also be facing the Dodgers instead of the San Diego Padres this week in his second start off the IL.
