Detroit Tigers third baseman Matt Vierling went 2-for-4 with a double and his 10th home run of the season in Wednesday's 6-2 loss to the Phillies. The home run was a solo shot and the 27-year-old also doubled in the contest while scoring twice. Although it was his second multi-hit game in his last four, it has been a rough month for the former third-round draft pick. After slashing .306/.337/.588 in May, the right-handed hitter is slashing .191/.226/.360 in June. Overall on the season, he owns a .254-10-32-35-0 line with a .317 wOBA and 105 wRC+. Vierling is probably only rosterable in deeper leagues, but he is eligible at both 3B and OF in Yahoo leagues, which gives managers flexibility.

Chicago White Sox catcher prospect Edgar Quero went 1-for-4 with a solo home run for Double-A Birmingham Wednesday. The White Sox' No. 4 prospect is turning in a torrid month, hitting .381 with five homers and 14 RBI in June. Quero's on-base percentage in June is .422 as he shows why is considered one of the best catcher prospects in the minor leagues. Acquired from the Angels, the 21-year-old looks like the catcher of the future for the White Sox. He has 12 homers and 50 RBI at Double-A this season as he makes a case for a promotion to Triple-A. Next year could be the year we see Quero behind the plate in Chicago.

Texas Rangers first baseman Nathaniel Lowe went 2-for-5 in Wednesday's 6-5 loss to the Brewers. Lowe singled, homered, and drove in three runs in the contest. It was Lowe's third home run of the season, but first since May 14. The 28-year-old makes decent contact (85.1%), strikes out lower than league average, and walks at a rate higher than league average, but outside of runs and RBI, it doesn't translate into great fantasy production. He owns a .256-3-24-24-2 line with a .314 wOBA and 101 wRC+ on the season in 236 plate appearances.

Texas Rangers catcher Jonah Heim went 2-for-3 with a home run and a walk in Wednesday's 6-5 loss to the Brewers. It was the seventh long ball of the season for the backstop, The 29-year-old has a .234-7-33-25-1 line on the season with a .281 wOBA and 79 wRC+, which is a far cry from his .324 wOBA and 103 wRC+ campaign from a season ago. The switch hitter drove in 95 runs last season in 501 plate appearances but is on pace for just 63 this season. Still, he sits just outside the top-12 at the position for fantasy so he makes for a fine backup catcher if needed.

Seattle Mariners reliever Trent Thornton recorded his first save of the season (and of his career) in Wednesday's 5-2 victory over the Rays. He wasn't the first choice in the ninth, but Andres Munoz walked the first two batters he faced and then hit a batter, prompting a pitching change. It is a situation to monitor, as Munoz has also been used in the eighth inning if the situation calls for it, allowing others to record saves, namely Ryne Stanek. Thornton doesn't figure to get many more opportunities, but should the opportunity arise, the 30-year-old has been solid this season, posting a 3.22 ERA, 0.94 WHIP, and 20.3% K-BB%.
