We’re heading to Tropicana Field this Thursday afternoon as we look to stay perfect with our writeups. We’ll try something a little different, rolling with a same-game parlay as we back both the Rays and Jeffrey Springs’ strikeout prop. I’m going to keep this short since once again this prop is already on the move. 

The Rays have the advantage over the Red Sox in every facet of the game — starting pitcher, bullpen, lineup and on the defensive side (hello, Bobby Dalbec). If you followed my work last year you know I’m a big Springs guy.

Springs posted a chase rate in the 96th percentile in 2022 and his whiff% currently ranks in the 90th percentile through two starts. The lefty has struck out an absurd 42.2% of batters so far in 2023, ranking in the 97th percentile in K%.  

We might not need to, but I teased Springs’ strikeout prop down to 4.5 and parlayed it with the Rays money line. I’m projecting Jeffrey Springs to pitch six-plus innings against the Red Sox Thursday afternoon and should end up with at least six Ks.
