Report: Julio Jones traded to Titans

Share

The Tennessee Titans traded “at least” a second-round pick for Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones Sunday, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport

Fantasy analysis: It was a popular landing spot for weeks and now it is official. Julio Jones joins A.J. Brown to form the top receiving duo in the NFL, and it makes this passing offense much more intriguing. Brown has been as efficient as any wideout in football since entering the league, finishing as the WR12 and WR20 in fantasy despite ranking 30th and 46th in targets during that span. There was a path to 150 targets for Brown but with Jones in town, it seems unlikely, especially in an offense that still ran the ball at the third-highest rate in football (50.2%). But with Jonnu Smith and Corey Davis gone, Tennessee does also have about 34% of their targets that need replacing. Brown still is the future of this team, and his game fits this offense better than the 32-year old Jones. Brown has been elite after the catch, averaging 7.5 yards after the catch per reception in his first two seasons. That fits this play-action passing attack of the Titans, which is why he should still be ranked ahead of Jones in fantasy. Consider Brown a solid WR1 still while Jones falls into that WR15-17 range.
