Rams sign WR DeSean Jackson, fantasy impact

A team with not much money to spend but desperately in need of a deep threat found the perfect fit Sunday, with WR DeSean Jackson reportedly agreeing to terms with the Los Angeles Rams, per NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.

The 34-year-old Jackson joins his fourth different team, after playing for Philadelphia, Washington, Tampa and Philadelphia again. He has five career 1,000-yard seasons (none since 2016) and three career Pro Bowls (none since 2013).

Adding Matthew Stafford to an offense that already had Robert Woods, Cooper Kupp, Tyler Higbee and Cam Akers was one of the hits of the offseason, but the Rams had nothing resembling a true deep threat on the roster, and when healthy, that’s Jackson’s calling card. Of course, the “when healthy” is a big caveat, as Jackson has been held to three and five games the last two years and hasn’t played all 16 games since 2013 in Philadelphia. If he can recapture some of his youth performance, Jackson could be one of the final pieces that could make this offense a juggernaut. But the question marks mean he’s going to be limited to deep leagues in fantasy drafts, and of course best ball, Jackson’s calling card. — Daniel Kelley
