BREAKING NEWS: Jags to place franchise tag on Cam Robinson

Share

The Jacksonville Jaguars are expected to place the franchise tag on OT Cam Robinson, keeping him around for 2021, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

A surprise: The #Jaguars are expected to franchise tag OT Cam Robinson, locking in their valuable OL for 2021 and keeping him from the free agent market. He was to be one of the top tackles available.

Robinson, 25 years old, was the Jags’ second-round pick (No. 34 overall) in 2017. He played at least 14 games in three of his four seasons with the team (including all 16 in 2020), but he missed all but two games in 2018 with a torn ACL. The tag comes as a bit of a surprise, as Robinson was expected to be one of the top offensive linemen available on the free agent market. Instead, he’ll stay in Jacksonville, where he’s likely to be called on to block for expected No. 1 overall pick Trevor Lawrence in 2021.
