Week 2 NFL Moneyline Underdogs

Thank you, Will Levis. I truly appreciate it.

The Bears scored 24 unanswered points to overcome the Titans 17-0 lead to steal away a profitable Week 1 from the FTN moneyline underdogs. This horrific decision by Will Levis gave the Bears their second defensive touchdown and ended our dream of cashing a +175 underdog victory.

Undaunted, we move on to Week 2! Each week, I will give you my favorite moneyline underdogs who I believe have the best chance to pull the outright upset. These are high-risk plays for a reason — they will not hit at a normal rate. However, when they do hit, we often get enough of a payout to keep our bankroll replenished.

There won’t be a fixed number of games. It could be one, two or even three underdogs I like for the week. Here’s a look at my favorite moneyline underdog for Week 2 of the 2024 season.

Week 2 NFL Moneyline Underdogs

Minnesota Vikings +6 vs. San Francisco 49ers

(+220, BetMGM)

The Vikings are a significant six-point home underdog and will be undervalued by the public this week. Minnesota defensive coordinator Brian Flores is one of the NFL’s best and guided the Vikings defense to an impressive performance with five sacks, two fumble recoveries, two interceptions and a defensive touchdown in Minnesota’s 28-6 drubbing at the Giants.

While San Francisco was certainly impressive in their 32-19 Monday night victory over the Jets, there are two key injury concerns heading into Week 2. Running back Christian McCaffrey was a surprising scratch Monday night due to a calf injury that has lingered throughout the preseason, and offensive tackle Trent Williams left the game late with an undisclosed injury. If both players are limited or miss this game, the 49ers will have a very difficult time scoring points against the Vikings defense in their home opener.

On offense, the Vikings have enough weapons to keep this game close. Justin Jefferson is an elite receiver and running back Aaron Jones is an explosive and versatile offensive weapon. There is concern that speedy wideout Jordan Addison could miss this game with an ankle injury against the Giants, but that is also baked into the moneyline value. Sprinkle in a Sam Darnold Revenge Game narrative, and the Vikings at +220 are absolutely worth the Week 2 investment.
