For the CPT position in soccer, there are usually just a handful of players who are viable in that spot in our eyes. We’ll touch on the following players briefly:
- Bruno Fernandes ($11,600)
- Anthony Martial ($10,400)
- Marcus Rashford ($10,000)
- Mason Greenwood ($9,800)
- Paul Pogba ($6,400)
Core
- Most Exposed: Bruno Fernandes
- Cash Core: Paul Pogba
- GPP Core: Underweight on Mason Greenwood
Player Pool
- Manchester United: David de Gea, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Luke Shaw, Harry Maguire.
- Southampton: James Ward-Prowse, Nathan Redmond, Shane Long, Ryan Bertrand, Kyle Walker-Peters, Aaron McCarthy.
Optimal Build Idea
The optimal route on this slate looks to be captaining Pogba alongside Fernandes and two of the remaining three in United’s attack (Rashford, Martial, Greenwood). There is also a case to be made that the optimal build starts with Fernandes captain alongside Pogba and an additional United attacker. Pogba as captain just allows more exposure to the -360 favorites and in a main or cash build, that’s what matters most. As of now, the best values look to be Shaw, Maguire, Bertrand and even McCarthy, but none really pop off the page. Fill them in as needed though.
In tournaments, which I’m sure most of you here are playing, we can get creative off of that ‘optimal’ build. Greenwood continues to excite and looks dangerous as ever each time he touches the ball, but I still feel this magical run of his being a bit over his head. Sooner or later he’ll be blanked. Now is a better time than ever to fade in GPPs, as his ownership will be pushing 50%. Goalkeepers De Gea and McCarthy are both strong in tournaments in hopes of United struggling to crack through but still winning comfortably. I cannot personally advise running too much Danny Ings but a goal from him puts him in the optimal lineup most likely. I prefer Shane Long. Make sure to refrain from using either of those two in lineups with De Gea.
