New York Mets left-hander David Peterson picked up the win in a quality start over the Miami Marlins on Monday. Peterson allowed two runs on five hits over six innings while striking out nine and walking three in the win. The veteran lefty looked good in his first start of the season, allowing just a pair of solo homers while punching out nine batters after notching more than eight strikeouts just once across 21 starts in 2024. Peterson will look to keep it going in his next start, which is scheduled for Sunday at home against the Toronto Blue Jays.

New York Mets starting pitcher David Peterson will start Game 5 of the NLCS against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday. Peterson has pitched four times this postseason and has been limited to three or fewer innings in each of those outings, meaning he will likely be on a very short leash again in a do-or-die game for the Mets. Despite the low innings total, Peterson has been solid in his outings, allowing just two earned runs over 8 IP. He will need to be sharp again on Friday, as he will go up against Jack Flaherty in a must-win situation.

New York Mets left-handed pitcher David Peterson finished off the Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday, picking up the first save of his career in a 4-2 win in Game 3 of their Wild-Card series. Peterson was tasked with facing the bottom of the Brewers lineup, which included two lefties. After giving up a leadoff single, Peterson induced a strikeout and a double play to finish off the series. It was a gutsy inning for the lefty, who could be in line for a multi-inning role out of the bullpen in the NLDS or could end up making a start. Any way you slice it, Peterson is a terrific weapon to have for the Mets.
