David Peterson Fans Season-High 11 Hitters In Tuesday's Win

New York Mets starting pitcher David Peterson continued his strong season in Tuesday's 7-2 win over the Red Sox. Peterson improved to 9-1, allowing one run on six hits and a walk with a season-high 11 strikeouts over six innings of work. The 29-year-old has found great success overall with a 2.75 ERA and a 1.31 WHIP in 17 starts and 98 1/3 IP. Oddly, his strikeouts have dropped considerably from previous seasons with a 7.41 K/9 rate. Overall, Peterson has provided surprising fantasy value this season. He is lined up for a decent matchup in his next start at the Blue Jays.

David Peterson Improves To 8-1 On Saturday

New York Mets starting pitcher David Peterson tossed 7 1/3 innings of one-run ball in Saturday's 7-1 victory over the Padres, allowing five hits and two walks while striking out two on the way to earning his eighth win of the season. It was the fifth consecutive start in which the southpaw has allowed two runs or less, which has also been the case in 13 of his 15 starts this season. That has led to an 8-1 record with a sterling 2.85 ERA (4.20 FIP). However, the lefty also has a 1.32 WHIP and just an 8.0% K-BB%, so it hasn't all been great for fantasy purposes. Peterson gets a favorable matchup next time out, which will come against the White Sox in Chicago next Friday.

David Peterson Back From Paternity List

The New York Mets activated left-hander David Peterson from the paternity list on Monday. Peterson landed on the paternity list late last week and missed the team's three-game series to conclude the first half of the season against the visiting Colorado Rockies. The 28-year-old southpaw is now back with the team, though, although it's unclear if his first start of the second half will come this weekend against the division-rival Miami Marlins. He has only made eight starts for the Mets in 2024, but Peterson has looked good when on the big-league mound, going 4-0 with a 3.09 ERA (4.54 FIP) and 1.42 WHIP with 32 strikeouts and 19 walks in 43 2/3 innings pitched. However, Peterson has never had a walk rate below 10% in his career and he's currently sporting a career-low 16.8% strikeout rate, so regression could be coming in the second half if he stays in New York's rotation.
