The Core and More: PGA DFS Notes for the 2025 American Express

Share

Shifting our focus stateside, we ready for the third week of the PGA Tour season. We are still in the shake-it-off phase in terms of gauging player form coming out of the holiday break. We are also still in the easy-course phase of the schedule.

With courses that keep you in attack mode all week long, some golfers are better suited whether that be with their style of play or mental profile. It also evens the playing field a bit from tee to green, because when you are hitting a large percentage of approach shots with a wedge or short iron, the variance between the best and worst wedge players is much smaller than when looking at the same dispersion differences with a long iron.

Long story short: We want to lean in on the variance and using the GPP Scores is a good way to do that. If the field is extremely overconfident on a golfer, then it’s good to look elsewhere and pivot to a golfer with a slightly lower median projection but higher variance profile. Keep an eye on the Discord for an alert when GPP Scores are posted but for now, here are my initial thoughts on the American Express field from a DFS perspective.
