Today’s Best NHL Bets
Seattle Kraken ML
(+122, FanDuel Sportsbook)
The Kraken are currently very undervalued by Vegas. They are a team that is above average defensively and have a sneaky good No. 1 goaltender in Joey Daccord. Daccord is often overlooked considering he came into the season as the No. 2 goaltender behind Philip Grubauer. You might be surprised to know that Daccord has the fourth-best GSAA in hockey behind three of the league’s best (Connor Hellebuyck, Andrei Vasilevskiy, Logan Thompson). While the Blues have had a resurgence with Jim Montgomery behind the bench, I still give Seattle the edge defensively. Offensively, I definitely favor the Blues, but the Kraken are one of the few teams in the NHL who can roll four lines comfortably and have scoring threats on every line. Keep in mind, Jordan Eberle is back in the lineup, but the lines are so stacked that he’s relegated to the fourth line.
NY Islanders ML
(+136, FanDuel Sportsbook)
The Rangers might be cooked beyond repair. After an underwhelming 4 Nations from the Rangers trio of J.T. Miller, Vincent Trocheck, Chris Kreider and, most notably, Adam Fox, they’ve played two mediocre games Saturday and Sunday against the Sabres and Penguins. The 5-2 win against the Penguins is incredibly misleading considering they were thoroughly outplayed throughout the game, with the Penguins actually winning the Expected Goals battle 4.0 xG to 1.5 xG. They’re a team that is just not passing the eye test right now, and it makes me wonder if Rangers head coach Peter Laviolette has lost his team in some capacity. The Islanders didn’t necessarily look all that great this past Sunday against the Stars, but I do feel that the Stars have been a tougher matchup for most opponents than the Rangers throughout the season, and especially so considering they are a non-conference opponent who the Islanders seldom see.
