Seattle Seahawks tight end Noah Fant (knee) was listed as limited on the team's estimated practice report on Monday. The Seahawks didn't actually hold a practice on Monday, so Fant's status was merely an estimation. The 27-year-old was on the injury report last week as well with a minor knee injury before playing through it on Sunday and securing only three of his six targets for 50 yards in the loss to the Minnesota Vikings in Week 16. He's probably not going to get much practice work in on a short week, but barring a setback with his knee, Fant should be available for Thursday night's clash against the Chicago Bears. Fant logged 75 percent of the offensive snaps against the Vikes and will continue to operate as a low-ceiling TE for fantasy managers this week behind receivers Jaxon Smith-Njigba, DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. Fant has only cleared 50 receiving yards three times in 2024 and doesn't have a TD.
In the team's estimated practice report on Monday, the Seattle Seahawks listed running back Kenneth Walker III (ankle) as a non-participant after he injured his ankle in Sunday's loss to the Minnesota Vikings in Week 16. Walker missed the previous two games due to a calf injury but returned last weekend, only to be pulled in the second half with a new injury. The 24-year-old took over lead-back duties immediately against Minnesota over backfield mate Zach Charbonnet (elbow), but it only amounted to eight carries for 31 yards. However, he salvaged his fantasy day with a season-high-tying eight catches for 28 yards. Sunday's game cemented the fact that Walker is still Seattle's preferred backfield option when healthy. The problem is Walker isn't healthy again and faces a short week to get right before a Thursday night game in Week 17 against the Chicago Bears. Right now, Charbonnet is the better bet to play on Thursday.
Seattle Seahawks running back Zach Charbonnet (oblique) "was limited during the (Vikings) game but signs are positive right now" that he can be a full-go in Week 17 on Thursday Night Football against the Chicago Bears, according to head coach Mike Macdonald. Charbonnet came out of Week 15 action with an oblique injury but ended up playing in the Week 16 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. However, backfield mate Kenneth Walker III (calf) also returned from a two-game absence and led the backfield by a wide margin. Walker had a 59% snap share and handled 16 touches for 59 scrimmage yards, while Charbonnet played a season-low 22% of the snaps and had three touches for 13 scrimmage yards. It was a disappointing development for fantasy managers that started the 23-year-old, but the good news is Walker suffered an ankle injury, which could thrust Charbonnet back into a starting role on Thursday.UPDATE: Charbonnet was listed as limited on Monday's estimated practice report.
Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf caught his first touchdown since Week 7 in Seattle's Week 16 loss to the Vikings. Metcalf got off to a fast start with 57 yards and the touchdown. However, he was quiet in the second half and was not heard from as quarterback Geno Smith started spreading the ball around. It looked momentarily as if Metcalf was headed towards a monster fantasy day. Even so, seeing Metcalf find fantasy relevance again was encouraging. He earned seven targets which was his highest since Week 9. Metcalf's poor catch percentage continues to be concerning though. He only caught three passes. He will look to improve upon this week in Week 17 when the Seahawks visit the Bears. Seattle is fighting for their playoff lives and will need all hands on deck.
Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba was excellent in Week 16 against the Minnesota Vikings. JSN caught eight of 12 targets for 95 yards and a touchdown. The effort earned him his first 1,000-yard receiving season of his career and bumped his touchdown total to six for the season. The effort marked a continued breakout for JSN this season. He enters fantasy championship weekend fresh off two straight 12-target games. That kind of volume will continue to bring excellent fantasy performances. The Seahawks are fighting for their playoff lives at this point and will need all hands on deck moving forward. They will travel to play the Chicago Bears in Week 17. The Bears are fresh off allowing Jared Goff to throw the ball all over the yard in Week 16. As such, the Seahawks' passing offense should have plenty of success this week. Expect JSN to continue this breakout next week.
