Despite reports that have connected free-agent wide receiver Cooper Kupp to the Jacksonville Jaguars, sources have told FOX Sports' Jordan Schultz that the Jaguars are not interested. Sources also tell Schultz that the sense around the NFL is that the former Los Angeles Rams wideout doesn't plan on having a drawn-out free-agent process and prefers to make his decision quickly. The 31-year-old veteran reportedly has interest from at least five teams, with the Boston Sports Journal's Mike Giardi saying that the New England Patriots are one of those teams. It's believed that Kupp prefers to stay on the West Coast, though, and a league source told Giardi that Kupp's current asking price is "insane" compared to where he's at in his career. The former third-rounder can still play a key role on offense, but serious lower-body injuries in recent seasons have sapped him of the elite athleticism that helped him earn the NFL's receiving Triple Crown in 2021.

During his introductory press conference on Thursday, Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold drew praise from head coach Mike Macdonald. Per Nick Shook of NFL.com, Macdonald was "ecstatic" and gushing with praise over his new QB. "First of all, he's just a tremendous human being, a great leader," said the head coach. "We had a lot of people in our building that have the history with Sam...So, I'm really excited to get our relationship started." The history Macdonald refers to regards new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, who has ties with Darnold from their time spent together in San Francisco in 2023. "Obviously, you know, working with Klint...I'm very familiar with the scheme," Darnold told reporters. The 27-year-old's familiarity with the offensive system -- a riff on the one he ran in Minnesota -- is what made him so attractive to the team. Despite a late-season meltdown, the USC product was superb in 2024. However, his new team does not sport the same arsenal of weaponry that he deployed with the Vikings. Wide receiver is a glaring need for Seattle, and they'll need to address that position so that Darnold can reach the heights he did a season ago.

Kupp won the 2021 NFL Offensive Player of the Year Award after posting 145 catches for 1,947 yards and 16 scores. Seattle released longtime wideout Tyler Lockett and traded DK Metcalf to the Pittsburgh Steelers this offseason, leaving the team with a weakness at the position behind Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Kupp is beyond his prime years of production, but he'd instantly slide into at least the No. 2 pass-catching role in Seattle's offense led by new quarterback Sam Darnold.

The team looked to trade the 31-year-old this offseason but was unable to come up with a deal. Now, Kupp will hit the open free-agent market, where he will be free to sign with any organization. After being selected in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft out of Eastern Washington, Kupp registered 634 catches for 7,776 yards, and 57 touchdowns in 104 career games over eight seasons. He won NFL Offensive Player of the Year in 2021 after logging 145 receptions for 1,947 yards and 16 touchdowns. While Kupp has battled lower-body injuries and is likely past his prime, he provided some strong performances in 2024 and totaled 67 catches for 710 yards and six scores. There should be plenty of free-agent interest for the former first-team All-Pro.

Free-agent wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling is signing with the Seattle Seahawks on a one-year deal worth up to $5.5 million, according to NFL insider Tom Pelissero. The 30-year-old is set to join his fourth team in three years after posting 17 receptions on 35 targets for 385 yards and four touchdowns in eight games with the New Orleans Saints to close out the 2024 campaign. MVS was originally a fifth-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft out of USF and has totaled 205 catches for 3,566 yards, and 20 touchdowns in 106 career games. While the veteran is unlikely to be a consistent fantasy producer, he could have spike weeks in Seattle's new-look offense led by Sam Darnold. With DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett out of town, Valdes-Scantling could have the opportunity to start in three-wide sets from Day 1 of the 2025 NFL season.
