Jaxon Smith-Njigba Looks To End Season Strong

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba enters Week 18 five receptions short of fellow wide receiver Tyler Lockett's single-season team record. Smith-Njigba is in prime position to break the record in Week 18 against the Los Angeles Rams. Smith-Njigba is entering the final week of what has become a breakout season. In 16 games, JSN sits as the WR7 with 1,121 receiving yards and six touchdowns. He has been nothing short of excellent as he has stepped into Seattle's No. 1 wide receiver role. The Rams have been relatively generous to opposing wide receivers in fantasy so Smith-Njigba should have no problems getting loose in the final game of the season. Additionally, JSN had his best outing of his career against the Rams in Week 9. He caught seven passes for 180 yards and two touchdowns. He has been nothing short of excellent ever since. Deploy JSN as a WR1 this week.

Sam Darnold A Stellar Start In Season Finale

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold is an excellent play in Sunday night's meeting with their division-rival Detroit Lions. The former first-round pick has been a revelation in 2024, working his way to 4,153 yards and 35 passing scores -; obliterating his previous career bests. Those numbers are good enough for fourth and fifth amongst league leaders, respectively, while his 68.1% completion percentage is a hair better than Lamar Jackson's 67.9. Darnold has undoubtedly played himself into another year of starting and will get a chance to put the cherry on top of his sensational season on Sunday Night Football against a vulnerable Detroit Lions pass defense. The Lions have allowed their opponents the second-most passing yards per game (250.4) and have afforded fantasy QBs 20.1 fantasy points per contest -; the eighth-highest in the league. The 27-year-old comes in at RotoBaller's QB5 ahead of this weekend's slate.

Puka Nacua, Cooper Kupp Won't Play Against Seahawks

The Los Angeles Rams will sit wide receivers Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp in the Week 18 regular-season finale on Sunday at home against the division-rival Seattle Seahawks, according to head coach Sean McVay. Even though the Rams could drop to the No. 4 seed in the NFC postseason picture with a loss coupled by a win by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, the Rams are prioritizing rest for their key players on both sides of the ball. Without Nacua and Kupp on the field this weekend in the season finale, the Rams will likely be rolling with Demarcus Robinson, Tyler Johnson and rookie Jordan Whittington in starting three-wide sets with backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo running the offense. Fantasy managers should obviously temper expectations for the Rams' offense without their best players, but Robinson could be a sneaky sleeper play in DFS lineups.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling Logs Full Practice Thursday

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling (chest) upgraded to a full participant in practice on Thursday. This was an improvement for the veteran receiver after he had been limited on Wednesday. Valdes-Scantling has been the epitome of a boom-or-bust player this season, demonstrating a heavy dependence on big plays. Over his last six games, he has caught just 13 of 26 targets for 347 yards and four touchdowns. To make matters even worse, in two games since Derek Carr (hand) went down, Valdes-Scantling has caught just two of nine targets for 64 yards and zero scores. He should be benched in most fantasy leagues if Carr remains sidelined, as expected, in Week 18.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling Has Limited Practice

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling (chest) logged a limited practiced on Wednesday ahead of the Week 18 game against Tampa Bay. The veteran receiver has been an extreme boom-or-bust option who surprised with a WR2 finish in Week 10 and caught touchdowns in three straight weeks earlier in the season, but bottomed out with no catches on two targets last week. With the Saints likely to play out the string without quarterback Derek Carr (left hand) and running back Alvin Kamara (groin), MVS is a low-end WR5 option on an offense that isn't worth trusting.
