Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold (knee) participated fully in Wednesday's team practice. Darnold sustained a minor knee injury and missed just one play in the team's convincing 34-7 victory over the Houston Texans on Sunday. Concerns arose when it was reported he was scheduled for an MRI on his injured knee, but imaging came back clean, and he'll be a full-go for the team's Week 4 road tilt against the Green Bay Packers. The 27-year-old currently garners the thirteenth-most passing yards in the NFL, though he leads the league in touchdown passes -- tossing eight through the team's first three contests. It's been an excellent start to the season for the former third-overall pick. He and the Vikings have been one of the more pleasant surprises thus far in 2024, and he has quickly thrust himself into weekly lineup consideration.
The Minnesota Vikings announced on Monday that quarterback Sam Darnold (knee) suffered a left-knee bruise in the Week 3 win over the Houston Texans, but he's not expected to miss any time. Don't be surprised to see Darnold on the team's Week 4 injury report, but it sounds as though he's fully expected to play this Sunday when the team travels to Lambeau Field to face the division-rival Green Bay Packers. The 27-year-old came out for a play in the third quarter of the 34-7 blowout win over Houston. The former first-round pick heads into Week 4 with a league-leading eight touchdown passes while completing 67.9% of his pass attempts for 657 yards in three games despite not having receiver Jordan Addison (ankle) for two games. Going into this weekend's game on the road, Darnold should be considered a high-end QB2 in fantasy.
Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold (knee) will undergo further evaluation on Monday, according to ESPN's Kevin Seifert. The quarterback played through the injury on Sunday against the Houston Texans, throwing for 181 yards and four touchdowns. He has led the Vikings to an improbable 3-0 start and hopes to keep that momentum going into Week 4 against the Green Bay Packers. Based on his postgame comments, it doesn't sound like Darnold is too considered about his knee injury. However, he did mention that he's not sure yet whether it will limit him in practice this week. Fantasy managers invested in Darnold and the other Vikings playmakers should continue to monitor the quarterback's status when injury reports come out on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. If healthy and active, Darnold ranks as a low-end fantasy QB1.
Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold impressed in back-to-back weeks to open the NFL season. He will look to continue his success against the Houston Texans in Week 3. Despite the former first-round pick's reputation as an inconsistent turnover machine, he's led the Vikings to a surprising upset over the San Francisco 49ers in Week 2 en route to finishing as the overall QB4. Darnold will be without second-year wideout Jordan Addison (ankle) for the second game in a row, leaving the quarterback without the full wide receiving room at his disposal. Nevertheless, the 27-year-old quarterback will represent Houston's biggest passing challenge thus far and could be in line for another top-15 QB finish.
Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold completed 17-of-26 passes for 268 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception in the team's 23-17 win over the San Francisco 49ers. He added 32 yards on the ground on five carries. When Minnesota beat up on the New York Giants last weekend in their 28-6 win, Darnold's excellent performance could have been written off as a fluke. However, that case is no longer as cut-and-dry with the Viking's surprise defeat of the reigning NFC champions. It's been quite the start to the year for the 27-year-old, who is now on his fourth NFL squad. Through two contests, he's racked up 476 yards and four scores while completing a crisp 72% of his passes. Superstar wide receiver Justin Jefferson -- who caught a 97-yard touchdown Sunday -- was diagnosed with a quad bruise during the matchup but does not believe he'll miss any time. With his stellar start, the third-overall pick of the 2018 NFL Draft has begun to creep into streaming consideration leading up to the team's Week 3 tilt against the Houston Texans.
