The Detroit Lions have signed wide receiver Ronnie Bell to a reserve/future deal on Tuesday. Bell was waived by the San Francisco 49ers in late November, but he was quickly signed back to the practice squad. The 24-year-old finished the season with two reception for 22 yards in nine games with the 49ers. The former seventh-round pick failed to do much in his two seasons in San Francisco. He'll look to catch on as a depth option with the Lions next season.
San Francisco 49ers rookie wide receiver Ronnie Bell caught his third touchdown of the season in the team's 21-20 home loss to the Los Angeles Rams. The five-yard score was his only catch of the day on five targets. The seventh-round pick finishes 2023 with six receptions for 68 yards and three touchdowns. Bell has flashed some skill this season and the 49ers appear to have found a bargain considering Bell's draft slot, but he's unlikely to become fantasy-relevant as long as Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel are still around.
San Francisco 49ers rookie wide receiver Ronnie Bell is expected to get increased playing time in a Week 18 meaningless home matchup versus the Los Angeles Rams. Having locked up the No. 1 seed last week, the 49ers have elected to rest quarterback Brock Purdy and running back Christian McCaffrey (calf). Head coach Kyle Shanahan hasn't divulged a specific personnel plan for other positions, but it stands to reason that receivers Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel may be protected to some degree. Bell seems to be positioned to benefit the most as Jauan Jennings (concussion) is out and Bell is the only other 49er wideout with a touchdown this season, having received one of his two touchdowns in Week 16 from Darnold. That being said, Ray-Ray McCloud, Willie Snead IV, or even Chris Conley could end up being the sneaky plays. Bell would be a risk and is not recommended for lineups in Week 18 championships, but if worth a DFS look if the price is right.
