Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Easton Stick didn't do too much in the opening preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks. Stick got the start in place of an injured Justin Herbert (foot) and completed just five of his 13 pass attempts for 31 yards and an interception. He took two sacks and added one rush for 12 yards. Stick is currently second on the Chargers depth chart, but he was arguably outplayed by both Max Duggan and Luis Perez in this one. What it boils down to though is: the Chargers are in trouble if Herbert misses any regular season games.
The Los Angeles Chargers are re-signing quarterback Easton Stick, according to NFL insider Mike Garafolo. The former fifth-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft out of North Dakota State played in five games last year after Justin Herbert (finger) went on Injured Reserve with a broken finger. In those games, Stick posted 1,129 passing yards, three touchdowns, and one interception. He reportedly drew interest from multiple teams on the open market, but he landed back with L.A. under new head coach Jim Harbaugh. Even if Herbert goes down this season for any length of time, Stick will have limited fantasy upside following the team's release of Mike Williams and trade of Keenan Allen to the Bears.
Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Easton Stick had another struggle game in a Week 18 matchup against an all-backups version of the Kansas City Chiefs. Stick threw the ball 47 times, completing 28 passes for 258 empty yards. He added 77 yards on the ground on 13 carries and lost a fumble along the way. It was yet another game without a passing touchdown for Stick, who ends the season with three total passing touchdowns, all of which came in the same Week 14 game against the Las Vegas Raiders. The Chargers will have starter Justin Herbert back for Week 1 next season, but the backup quarterback position is certainly something they'll need to address sooner than later.
Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Easton Stick is not a recommended fantasy option for a Week 18 game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Stick has likely struggled his way out of the QB2 position for next season, but he'll get one more start to wrap up this season for the Chargers, Going up against the Chiefs defense, Stick is unlikely to be able to do much with a thoroughly decimated Los Angeles offense. He's outside of the top-20 fantasy quarterbacks this week, even with several teams resting their starters.
