Chicago Bears tight end Cole Kmet once again was an afterthought in the team's lackluster offense in the Monday night loss to the division-rival Minnesota Vikings, catching his only target for a pickup of 14 yards. Kmet was on the field plenty -- he played 93 percent of the offensive snaps on the evening -- but rookie quarterback Caleb Williams continued to rely mostly on his three receivers in Keenan Allen, DJ Moore and rookie Rome Odunze. In the last three games, Kmet has just four receptions on four targets (he didn't have a target in Week 14 against the San Francisco 49ers) for 40 yards and no touchdowns. He hasn't scored a touchdown since a two-TD performance in Week 6 and has 16 receptions for 159 yards and no TDs in six games since the team's bye. Fantasy managers still alive in the playoffs should look for a better TE option in Week 16 when Chicago faces the division-rival Detroit Lions.
Chicago Bears tight end Cole Kmet has been a disappointment to fantasy managers outside of a few big performances. Last week, Kmet wasn't targeted at all during the loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Somehow, Kmet wasn't targeted during this game despite being on the field for over 90 percent on the snaps. It's tough for fantasy managers to insert Kmet into their lineups after that one. It's worth noting that Kmet finished with seven receptions on 10 targets for 64 yards during the Week 12 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings. Kmet will get a rematch with the Vikings this week, but remains on the TE2 radar.
Chicago Bears tight end Cole Kmet had a disappointing performance in the team's tough 38-13 loss to the San Francisco 49ers in Week 14. Kmet was shut out, finishing with zero receptionsa significant step back from his recent solid performances. He was targeted on the Bears' two-point conversion attempt, but unfortunately, he dropped what was a very catchable ball, further adding to his frustration. As was the case with most of the Bears' pass catchers, Kmet's fantasy production suffered due to the team's inability to move the ball through the air, with just 134 passing yards total. It was a challenging day for the offense, and Kmet couldn't find his rhythm. The Bears will look to get back on track next Monday night when they face the Minnesota Vikings in a crucial rematch.
Chicago Bears tight end Cole Kmet is a risky fantasy start in Week 14 as he faces a solid San Francisco 49ers defense. The 49ers rank fourth in passing yards allowed, giving up only 190 yards per game. Meanwhile, Kmet's star wide receiver teammate, DJ Moore (quadriceps), is listed as questionable after being limited in Friday's practice following missed sessions on Wednesday and Thursday. While Moore is optimistic about playing, if he's unable to suit up, it would significantly boost the other pass catchers in the Bears' offense. However, Kmet has been a secondary option in the passing game all season, making him a volatile fantasy choice. He managed just three receptions for 26 yards in the Thanksgiving loss to the Detroit Lions. If Moore is ruled out, Kmet becomes a borderline TE1 with the potential for more targets. However, if Moore plays, it will be hard to confidently start Kmet, given the competition for touches in the Bears' offense.
Chicago Bears tight end Cole Kmet caught all three of his targets for 26 yards in their loss to the Detroit Lions on Thursday afternoon. Kmet's three targets tied him for the lowest total among Chicago pass catchers. This was a sharp decline from the ten targets he saw last weekend. Throughout the season, Kmet has been unable to string together consistent fantasy performances. He has eclipsed double-digit PPR points on three occasions but fell under 5.0 PPR points in four games. Fantasy managers should continue to view Kmet as a risky TE2 in all formats heading into a Week 14 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers.
