Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie running back Bucky Irving (hamstring) has been given a questionable tag to play in Week 4 against the Philadelphia Eagles. Irving was limited in practice on Wednesday, didn't practice on Thursday and returned to a limited practice on Friday. The 22-year-old fourth-rounder has been more productive than Rachaad White through the first three weeks, which could lead to more touches moving forward, but his status is in question for the weekend. Irving so far has 30 total touches for 182 scrimmage yards and has looked much more elusive and explosive with the ball in his hands. Even if Irving is a shaky RB3/flex play this Sunday against the Eagles, he's deserving of a stash in most fantasy formats, regardless of whether you also have White. If Irving is unable to get the green light to play in Week 4, it will make White a more appealing RB3/flex play himself, while Sean Tucker would serve as the direct backup to White.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie running back Bucky Irving (hamstring) isn't practicing on Thursday but said he will be ready to play on Sunday in Week 4 against the visiting Philadelphia Eagles. Irving was listed as a limited participant in the first practice of the week on Wednesday, so a downgrade to a DNP isn't exactly ideal. How much the 22-year-old does in practice on Friday will ultimately decide whether he's listed as questionable on the final Week 4 injury report. Irving has been the more elusive and more efficient backfield option for the Bucs so far through three weeks over Rachaad White, but Irving's injury could complicate things this weekend. In the Week 3 loss to the Denver Broncos, Irving had nine carries for a team-high 70 yards and also caught three passes for 14 yards. He's a worth bench stash in fantasy for now, even if you don't have White rostered.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie running back Bucky Irving (hamstring) was limited in practice due to a hamstring injury. Drafted in the 2024 NFL Draft, Irving has made a strong impression in the run game so far. In the 26-7 loss to Denver on Sunday, he rushed nine times for 70 yards and caught three passes for 14 yards, contributing while playing 32 percent of the offensive snaps. Rachaad White, who took over twice as many snaps (73 percent), had three fewer carries and one fewer touch than Irving, fueling speculation that the rookie could eventually become Tampa Bay's lead back. Head coach Todd Bowles noted in his Monday press conference that Irving is expected to receive more snaps to evaluate his performance better moving forward. However, it remains uncertain if Irving's hamstring injury will impact their workloads during the Week 4 home game against the Eagles.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles said that rookie running back Bucky Irving has earned more offensive snaps going forward. Although primary back Rachaad White saw 74% of the offensive snaps to Irving's 32% in the Week 3 loss to the Denver Broncos, Irving was the better back, rushing nine times 70 yards while catching all three of his targets for 14 yards. Meanwhile, White had only six carries for a measly 17 yards on the ground. The 22-year-old Irving broke off a big 32-yard chunk gain on the ground and looked much more elusive and quick with the ball in his hands than White did. It's bad news for White's fantasy managers going forward, although it would be wise to try and pick Irving up off the waiver wire this week, as he could take over lead-back duties sooner than later. Irving is currently rostered in 35% of Yahoo fantasy leagues.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Bucky Irving put together a solid game on the ground during Sunday's contest against the Denver Broncos. The Bucs didn't have many bright spots in this game, but Irving was one of them. The rookie back rushed nine times for 70 yards while hauling in all three of his targets for 14 yards through the air. Fellow back Rachaad White continues to struggle on the ground, which could mean Irving starts taking a bigger chunk of the workload. Irving has earned more playing time, so we'll see if he gets it during next week's matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles. Fantasy managers should check the waiver wire and scoop up Irving where available.
