Cordarrelle Patterson Out On Sunday

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Cordarrelle Patterson (ankle) will not play on Sunday, according to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network due to an ankle injury. The veteran running back left last weekend's game early with an ankle injury. During the week, Patterson did not participate in any team practices and will set his sights on returning in Week 6. The 33-year-old was pushed up to the No.2 spot on the depth chart last weekend with Jaylen Warren (knee) sitting out, which allowed him to see six rushing attempts and two targets before suffering the injury. Fantasy managers should expect Najee Harris to have a large workload on Sunday night when the Steelers host the Cowboys and should be started in all leagues as an RB2.

Jaylen Warren Out For Second Straight Week

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jaylen Warren (knee) has been ruled out for the second week in a row for Sunday night's contest against the visiting Dallas Cowboys, according to sources. With Warren out again, the Steelers will look to Aaron Shampklin and Jonathan Ward as RB depth behind starter Najee Harris. Even while working in tandem with Harris, Warren was a weekly RB3/flex option for fantasy managers last year. That hasn't been the case so far in 2024 with dual-threat quarterback Justin Fields running the offense. In the three games that Warren has played, he has only 14 carries for 54 yards (career-low 3.9 yards per tote) while catching all five of his targets for only 28 yards. Warren is still rostered in just over 50% of Yahoo leagues, but he obviously belongs on benches yet again in Week 5. With Warren out for the second week in a row, Harris should see plenty of volume in a good matchup, making him a solid RB2 in fantasy.

Jaylen Warren, Cordarrelle Patterson Miss Thursday's Practice

Pittsburgh Steelers running backs Jaylen Warren (knee) and Cordarrelle Patterson (ankle) were both unable to suit up for Thursday's practice. Warren is on the verge of missing his second straight week due to a lingering knee issue. There's still a chance he practices on Friday, but Warren is trending in the wrong direction. Patterson has also missed both practices to open the week and seems unlikely to go in Week 5. It's looking like Aaron Shampklin is in line to be the primary backup to Najee Harris for the upcoming matchup against the Dallas Cowboys.

Russell Wilson Limited During Thursday's Practice

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson (calf) was able to get through a limited practice session on Thursday. This is back-to-back limited practices for Wilson as he ramps up his football activities. The organization is hopeful that Wilson will be cleared to return to game action soon. Justin Fields has already been named the starter for the Week 5 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys. Fields has been a viable option for the Steelers, so it seems unlikely Wilson would take over even if he's healthy. Fantasy managers can leave Wilson on the waiver wire until further notice.

Russell Wilson Logs Limited Practice On Wednesday

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson (calf) logged a limited practice session on Wednesday, according to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network. Earlier in the week, head coach Mike Tomlin expressed that he hopes to get the veteran QB through more work during practice. If Wilson continues to progress well he could officially be active as the backup quarterback as Justin Fields has claimed the starting role. Through the first four weeks of the season, the former Super Bowl champion has served as the emergency QB behind Kyle Allen. Fantasy managers in 1QB leagues should leave Wilson on the waiver wire, but superflex managers in deeper leagues should consider stashing Wilson for now, as he could find his way onto the field later in the season.
