Jalen Hurts Listed As A DNP In Wednesday's Estimated Injury Report

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts (finger, concussion) did not practice in Wednesday's estimated injury report. Hurts exited Sunday's loss against the Washington Commanders early with a concussion and did not return. The 26-year-old is also dealing with a broken finger. He is in concussion protocol and will need to be cleared by Saturday to have a chance to suit up in Sunday's contest versus the Dallas Cowboys. The Eagles are banged up at quarterback as Kenny Pickett (ribs) was also limited Wednesday with a rib injury. Philadelphia did bring in former quarterback Ian Book for a team visit on Wednesday. Hurts will need to be cleared and practice in some fashion in order to be active against Dallas. Fantasy managers will need to monitor Hurts' status for the week but should have a backup plan in case the star quarterback is ruled out for fantasy championship week.

Browns Hopeful Dorian Thompson-Robinson Can Start In Week 17

Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski is hopeful that quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson (calf) can start against the Miami Dolphins in Week 17 on Sunday despite picking up a calf injury in the Week 16 loss to the division-rival Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. If healthy, Thompson-Robinson remains Cleveland's starter under center despite underwhelming in his first start of 2024 against the Bengals. The 25-year-old went 20-for-34 (58.8%) for 157 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions against a defense that has been among the worst in the league this year. Jameis Winston (shoulder) was inactive due to injury, so if DTR isn't able to play this weekend, the Browns would be down to Bailey Zappe under center in Week 17. Thompson-Robinson has more rushing upside than Winston -- he ran for 49 yards against Cincy -- but he's nothing more than a desperation low-end QB2 in fantasy the rest of the way.

Jalen Hurts In Concussion Protocol

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said on Monday that quarterback Jalen Hurts (concussion) is in the league's concussion protocol. Sirianni said he will get daily updates from the doctors on Hurts' progress throughout the week. Hurts took a hard hit in the first half in Sunday's Week 16 loss to the division-rival Washington Commanders and never returned. The Eagles next play on Sunday, Dec. 29, versus the division-rival Dallas Cowboys. We'll have a better idea of Hurts' status for Week 17 once the Eagles resume practicing on Wednesday, but for now, fantasy managers need to prepare for the worst-case scenario of not having the stud QB for fantasy championship matchups. Backup Kenny Pickett went 14-for-24 for 143 yards with a TD and interception in relief of Hurts. At least in single-QB leagues, Pickett won't be the answer for fantasy managers if Hurts can't clear the concussion protocol.

Jake Elliott Has Monster Day In Divisional Clash

Philadelphia Eagles kicker Jake Elliott connected on 4-of-5 field goal attempts and nailed all three of his extra-point tries in Sunday's 36-33 loss to the Washington Commanders. The Memphis product converted kicks of 24, 40 (twice), and 50 yards on the afternoon, missing his longest attempt of the day -- a 56-yarder at the end of the first half. Still, Elliott was excellent in the semi-finals, pushing fantasy managers to victory with a huge day. It could have been a very different outing, too, considering quarterback Jalen Hurts (concussion) was forced from the contest and did not return. The 29-year-old is now 24-of-31 on the year on field goal attempts and has missed just one of his 41 point-after attempts. He'll square off against the Dallas Cowboys next Sunday in Week 17.

Grant Calcaterra No-Shows In Week 16

Philadelphia Eagles tight end Grant Calcaterra was not targeted in his team's 36-33 loss to the Washington Commanders. It was a weird day for the Eagles in the upset loss. Quarterback Jalen Hurts (concussion) was forced from the contest early, leaving Kenny Pickett (ribs) manning the helm for the team. Pickett would attempt just 24 passes while running back Saquon Barkley chewed up 29 carries en route to another monster performance. Aside from wide receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, no other Philadelphia pass-catcher would garner more than a single target. It's a letdown for Calcaterra in an exploitable matchup, but the outlook of Philly's skill players all took a hit with the entrance of Pickett. The 26-year-old will get a slightly stiffer test next Sunday in a rematch with the visiting Dallas Cowboys. His fantasy outlook will hinge on who is calling signals for the Eagles.
