The 2023 NFL OROY Odds are open for betting. The top non-QB in the league and early betting favorite is Bijan Robinson, followed by Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Jordan Addison and Jahmyr Gibbs. Bryce Young has the shortest odds of the QB group as the second betting favorite behind RB Bijan Robinson. Anthony Richardson and C.J. Stroud are third and fourth overall, but the order changes depending on which book you are looking at.

FTN Bets is here to guide you through the latest odds, picks, and how to think through your NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year odds bets.

Odds to Win 2023 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year (OPOY)

Bijan Robinson is the the early favorite to win the 2023-2024 OROY award at +300. That means a $100 bet will pay out $400 for a profit of $300. These odds give Bijan a 25% chance of winning Offensive Player of the Year.

Other Notable Bets to Consider

  • Bryce Young went No. 1 overall to the Carolina Panthers. He should step right into the starting role from Day 1. The Offensive Rookie of the Year was an award that often went to running backs until Ben Roethlisberger broke a 34-year drought to win the award in 2004. Since 2004, we have had nine quarterbacks, six running backs and four wide receivers walk away with the award. It is not as skewed toward the quarterback position as the MVP has become, but the position has taken home just shy of 50% of the last 19 trophies. Young has a revamped offense with an array of new skill position players to work with.
  • Jaxon Smith-Njigba is the top WR option in 2023 to win the award. The last two OROY awards went to the wide receiver position with Ja’Marr Chase and Garrett Wilson taking them home.
  • C.J. Stroud is the third overall option to win the award at most sportsbooks. He is fourth to Anthony Richardson on DraftKings. Stroud may end up being the best quarterback in this class, but his offense lacks the weapons for him to shine as bright in year one as some of his peers.

NFL OPOY Odds Movement in 2023

  • June 5, 2023: Anthony Richardson has seen his stock rise and odds drop in the past few weeks. He has a chance to start from Day 1 in Indianapolis. The Colts’ ownership has a love for running quarterbacks, and I expect to see him early and running often when the season kicks off. He opened at double-digit odds above 10-1 on most books and very few still list him at a number that high. He has leaped ahead of C.J. Stroud in a few places as well.

RB and WR Odds

The way voting has worked in most recent years is that quarterbacks have the advantage, but RB and WR options can win. A running back or wide receiver has won in seven of the last ten years, so do not discount the other skill position players. Here are some of the best non-QB odds for NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Obviously Bijan Robinson is the favorite, But Jahmyr Gibbs is a better value. RBs get hurt at a higher rate than any other position. It is the reason the zero-RB draft theory is so popular in fantasy. If Bijan meets the same fate as a guy like Breece Hall did last season, Gibbs would have a great shot to take home the award if he is the one that avoids an injury. Jordan Addison is also a great longshot. The Vikings let Adam Thielen go and have a ton of targets up for grabs. With Justin Jefferson and T.J. Hockenson on the field, Addison is not going to see a ton of double coverage or safety help. At 17-1, he could end up being the third WR in a row to win the award.

History of NFL OPOY Winners

Here are the last nine NFL OROY winners:

Year Player Position Team
2014 Odell Beckham WR New York Giants
2015 Todd Gurley RB Los Angeles Rams
2016 Dak Prescott QB Dallas Cowboys
2017 Alvin Kamara RB New Orleans Saints
2018 Saquon Barkley RB New York Giants
2019 Kyler Murray QB Arizona Cardinals
2020 Justin Herbert QB Los Angeles Chargers
2021 Ja’Marr Chase WR Cincinnati Bengals
2022 Garrett Wilson WR New York Jets

Three RBs, three QBs and three WRs make up the list since 2014. While many of them were drafted in the first round, it has not always been a lock that the No. 1 overall pick wins the award. Some of these guys were not even the first player at their position to be drafted, so make sure you look at the whole first round and think about who could have the best path to a significant role. Remember the award goes to the player who puts up the best numbers as a rookie, not necessarily the best player or the guy who will become the best. This is one place where early opportunity matters quite a bit.
