NFL FanDuel Slate Breakdown: Week 2

Well, that was a wild Week 1 in the NFL. One of the largest takeaways was that every team looked like the starters didn’t play much (if at all) in the preseason and passing yards were tough to come by. The league averaged under 200 passing yards per quarterback, which feels like it will be a huge outlier.

Week 2 can be difficult for selecting DFS lineups, because you have to walk the line between overreacting and not reacting to new data, so let’s dive in.

Quarterbacks

Studs

Anthony Richardson, Indianapolis Colts ($8,500)

Fantasy football can be a funny game. Anthony Richardson is a wildly inexperienced quarterback, having logged just 18 games in his college and NFL career. There are justifiable concerns with his accuracy, and it showed Sunday with just nine completions on 19 attempts. Yet, he scored over 27 FD points thanks to three total touchdowns (two passing and one rushing) and 56 rushing yards. The scary part is he was a few inches away from two additional long touchdowns, which we’ll talk about later on. Richardson has been a fantasy dynamo in his time in the NFL while the Packers exited Week 1 ranked 26th in DVOA against the pass. With Richardson, I’m not even sure matchups will matter a lot of weeks. His rushing upside is crazy high and the guy might miss five throws in a row but then hit a deep ball like this one to Alec Pierce. Green Bay only allowed one reception of 20-plus yards in Week 1, but only 45.6% of the air yards they face were catchable. If he stays under 5% where he is in the first run of rostership projections, that feels like an incredible play.
