Breece Hall Sees Work In 11-On-11 Drills

New York Jets running back Breece Hall (lower body), who was dealing with an undisclosed lower-body issue during offseason workouts, took part in 11-on-11 drills during training camp practice on Wednesday. It's a great sign for Hall after he was held out as a precaution during OTAs and minicamp earlier this offseason. The 23-year-old former second-round pick (36th overall) in 2022 out of Iowa State tore his ACL in his first year in the NFL but nearly rushed for 1,000 yards on 223 rushing attempts in his sophomore season, adding nine total touchdowns in 17 games (16 starts). With quarterback Aaron Rodgers (Achilles) returning and with an improved offensive line in front of him, the sky is the limit for Hall in 2024 as a high-end RB1 as long as he avoids any serious injuries.

Jordan Travis Headed To Non-Football Injury List

New York Jets quarterback Jordan Travis (leg) has been placed on the non-football injury list on Thursday. This doesn't come as a surprise considering Travis is still recovering from a leg fracture from November. The fifth-round pick can return at any point during training camp since he was put on the list before camp started. Travis is unlikely to have fantasy value during the 2024 season. He's expected to serve as the third-string quarterback behind Aaron Rodgers and Tyrod Taylor. Fantasy managers in redraft formats can feel free to avoid Travis. However, dynasty managers have more incentive to hold Travis with Rodgers possibly retiring after the 2024 season.

Texans Place Andrew Beck On PUP List

The Houston Texans placed fullback Andrew Beck (calf), cornerback D'Angelo Ross (undisclosed) and linebacker Del'Shawn Phillips (shoulder) on the Physically Unable to Perform list on Wednesday, meaning they will not be ready to take part in the start of training camp next week. Beck strained his calf earlier this offseason and now won't be able to take part in practices to kick off the summer, but it doesn't necessarily mean he won't be ready for Week 1 of the regular season this fall. With Beck sidelined for the start of camp, Troy Hairston will get more repetitions as the club's fullback. The 28-year-old Beck played in 15 games (12 starts) in his first year with the Texans in 2023 and had 11 receptions for 55 yards and two touchdowns while adding five rushing attempts for three yards and another TD. He is not on the fantasy radar.

Jets Sign Malachi Corley To Rookie Deal

The New York Jets signed third-round wide receiver Malachi Corley to a four-year, $6.073 million rookie deal on Wednesday that includes a $1.237 million signing bonus. Corley was the 65th overall selection in April's NFL draft after he caught 79 passes for 984 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2023 with Western Kentucky. The 22-year-old comes highly touted for his yards-after-the-catch ability but could struggle to find regular playing time out of the slot for the Jets in his rookie season as long as Xavier Gipson stays healthy. However, Corley has drawn comparisons to Deebo Samuel and had 29 touchdowns in his last three seasons in college. If he can overtake Gipson at some point in 2024, he could be a popular waiver-wire pickup in single-year fantasy leagues in an offense led by future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers.

Justin Fields Playing For 2025 And Beyond

The Athletic's Mark Kaboly doesn't think that Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Justin Fields is going to beat out Russell Wilson or replace him in 2024 unless Wilson implodes, which is difficult to imagine happening. Kaboly also thinks Fields is playing /practicing for 2025 and down the road. He still has to work on his fundamentals, but the talent remains undeniable, especially his legs and his arm strength. The Chicago Bears' future first-round pick can be the Steelers' future franchise signal-caller, even if he doesn't play a down this season. The 25-year-old's rushing ability is top-notch, but his accuracy is going to need to improve at some point if he wants another chance as a starter in the NFL after Wilson's days are done in Pittsburgh. Unless Wilson tanks or gets hurt, Fields won't be on the fantasy radar in single-QB leagues in 2024.
