Justin Fields believes he has demonstrated his capability to be the Steelers' starting quarterback despite the team still listing Russell Wilson as QB1 on the depth chart for Saturday's preseason game. Fields expressed confidence in his performance, saying, "I think the time I had with the first-team offense during training camp went well. We made progress each day, but ultimately, it's not up to me." Fields directed questions about his depth chart position to head coach Mike Tomlin. Over two preseason games, Fields has completed 16 of 23 passes for 159 yards, with no touchdowns or interceptions and three sacks. He has also rushed for 44 yards on 11 carries. Given the opportunity, Fields could prove to be a significant player. While Wilson is expected to be a QB2/QB3 fantasy option, Fields has the potential to be a top-10 QB fantasy asset. Fantasy managers should watch this situation closely, and hope Fields gets his chance.

New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh had more good things to say about rookie running back Braelon Allen after Saturday's preseason game against the Carolina Panthers. "We picked him for a lot of reasons, because he's actually really good out of the backfield and route-running, he's really good in protection, too. We think he's an all-around good back and he's a very powerful runner, too, and he's displaying that, down in and down out," Saleh said. The 20-year-old saw eight carries on Saturday and gained 27 yards while also catching two of his four targets for 12 yards. With just one preseason game remaining, it seems pretty clear that Allen is the team's preferred RB2 behind workhorse Breece Hall heading into his first year in the NFL. He's probably going to go undrafted in standard 12-team fantasy leagues, but in deeper formats, Allen is worth taking as a handcuff to Hall.

Los Angeles Rams running back Zach Evans led the team's backfield in touches during the second week of the preseason against the Chargers on Saturday. Evans carried 16 times for 62 yards. The 3.88 yards per carry wasn't super efficient but he got some good work in. Boston Scott had 10 carries for 55 yards as the two battle for the third running back spot behind Kyren Williams and Blake Corum. Evans will need to show a little more efficiency on his carries if he wants to impress the Rams' coaching staff. He also did not catch a pass out of the backfield in Saturday's game.

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Justin Fields played well in his team's 9-3 preseason loss to the Buffalo Bills on Saturday. Fields completed 11 of his 17 passes for 92 yards and added eight rushes for 42 yards in the loss. Veteran quarterback Russell Wilson got the start and played most of the first half, with Fields taking over with 2:04 left on the clock before halftime. Wilson has missed a portion of camp with a calf injury while Fields has flashed at times. Early in the preseason the Steelers tabbed Wilson as their Week 1 starter but the calf injury plus Fields' solid play has made this an interesting situation to monitor as the Week 1 season opener against the Atlanta Falcons looms in a few weeks.

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Easop Winston Jr. caught three of his four targets for 47 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's preseason loss to the Tennessee Titans. The score was an absolute beauty. Barely a step ahead of cornerback Tre Avery, Winston looked over his shoulder as he crossed the goal line in time to snag a 23-yard arcing pass from Sam Howell for the touchdown. Winston also had a 15-yard reception with eight seconds left in the first half, advancing a drive that resulted in a field goal before the break. Winston is playing for a roster spot and, assuming he does make the cut, would be unlikely to challenge DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, or Jaxon Smith-Njigba for targets.
