Malik Nabers Taking Part in Walkthrough

New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers' injured toe is "good," according to head coach Brian Daboll, and he's "progressing." Nabers still isn't ready to practice in full yet, but he's participating in walkthrough during mandatory minicamp. The 21-year-old former sixth overall pick last year dealt with a toe injury in college and it also bothered him at times in his rookie campaign in 2024, but it never caused him to miss any games. The LSU product has not practiced at all this offseason, but he's expected to be a full-go for training camp this summer. Nabers impressed in his first year in the league and made the Pro Bowl after catching 109 passes on a whopping 170 targets for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns in 15 games (13 starts) despite New York's terrible QB situation. Even though things might not be much better with Russell Wilson under center, Nabers is a clear top-10 fantasy wideout.

Russell Wilson a Natural Mentor in New York

ESPN's Jordan Raanan writes that New York Giants veteran quarterback Russell Wilson has been a natural mentor for all of the team's QBs this offseason, including rookie first-rounder Jaxson Dart. After signing in late March to a one-year deal in free agency, Wilson has quickly established himself as a leader and respected voice in the locker room. "I've always viewed it as you're always trying to be the best version of you, and then you're always giving back to everybody else," Wilson said. The 36-year-old organized a dinner this week with the QBs, O-linemen and running backs and also put together throwing sessions this offseason in various cities. While all of Wilson's reps this spring have come with the first-team offense and he will be the starter in Week 1, there will be plenty of pressure on him to perform well and to hold off Dart in 2025 after a disappointing 2024 campaign in Pittsburgh.

Jaxson Dart Gets Second-Team Reps on Thursday

New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart got reps with the second-team offense at Thursday's OTA practice, according to team reporter Jordan Raanan. The rookie out of Ole Miss has been primarily working with the third-team offense this offseason, so this is an encouraging sign. Dart, the No. 25 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, is in a quarterback room with veterans Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, so he could be in for a "redshirt" campaign in his rookie season. However, the Giants' schedule is daunting, and Dart could be inserted in the lineup at any point if the team gets out to a poor start. In his final season with the Rebels, Dart threw for 4,279 yards, 29 touchdowns, and six interceptions en route to a 10-3 record. He's a risk-taker and likes to push the ball downfield, meaning he could be a great asset for Malik Nabers' fantasy football upside in the future.

Giants Sign Rookie Darius Alexander

Per Dan Salomone of Giants.com, the New York Giants have signed rookie third-round pick defensive lineman Darius Alexander to a four-year contract. The financial details were not disclosed. Alexander is the sixth of seven rookies to sign their deal with New York. The 24-year-old didn't produce much during his time at Toledo, but he's uber-athletic for his frame and could be a nice rotational piece for the Giants' defensive line. Despite being drafted as a defensive tackle, he's currently listed second on the depth chart (unofficially) behind Roy Robertson-Harris at defensive end. New York sports one of the more loaded edge-rush units in the league, and a deep room of fresh legs can only boost their chances to be a dominant group. They posted the ninth-most sacks in the league as a team in 2024 (45).

Russell Wilson Not Phased by Bright Lights in New York

New York Giants quarterback Russell Wilson noted on the 7 PM in Brooklyn with Carmelo Anthony podcast that he is relishing the chance to play with the team in New York. "I don't mind the lights. I don't mind that part of it," said the former Seattle Seahawk. He was also very excited about the cast of athletes he'll share the field with, and said that head coach Brian Daboll influenced his decision to land with the Giants. "Here with Dabes, I'm excited because his offensive wizardry is really special. Him and (offensive coordinator Mike) Kafka...people that I know and people that I believe in. I'm excited about the opportunity." There's no guarantee the 36-year-old starts for New York the entire season with fellow veteran signal-caller Jameis Winston and rookie Jaxson Dart waiting in the wings. However, he's undoubtedly a more talented QB than any of their options from 2024. Wilson could have some decent streaming appeal this season as long as he has the starting gig.
