Chiefs Designate Clyde Edwards-Helaire For Return On Wednesday

The Kansas City Chiefs officially designated running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire (personal) to return from the Non-Football Illness list on Wednesday. It doesn't mean that Edwards-Helaire will be active for the Monday night contest against the New Orleans Saints in Week 5, but he is getting close to a 2024 debut after dealing with some personal issues. Isiah Pacheco (leg) remains on Injured Reserve, so there is opportunity in KC's backfield, but CEH could still be a long shot for fantasy production in 2024 alongside the likes of Kareem Hunt, Samaje Perine and rookie Carson Steele. The former first-rounder in 2020 out of LSU has been a bust in the NFL so far through four seasons and averaged a career-low 3.2 yards per carry on a career-low 70 rushing attempts in 15 regular-season games in 2023. Fantasy managers in standard 12-team leagues should continue to ignore Edwards-Helaire.

Brandin Cooks Won't Be Available In Week 5

The Dallas Cowboys will be without wide receiver Brandin Cooks (knee) for at least the Week 5 tilt on Sunday night against the Pittsburgh Steelers, and he could potentially miss more time after an infection developed in his right knee after a procedure he had after remaining in New York following last Thursday night's win over the division-rival New York Giants, according to multiple sources. Fantasy managers that are in need of receiving help with byes starting in Week 5 may want to look to the waiver wire and pick up Jalen Tolbert, who will serve as Dallas' WR2 behind CeeDee Lamb with Cooks sidelined this weekend. Tight end Jake Ferguson should also see an uptick in targets from quarterback Dak Prescott. The 31-year-old Cooks has caught nine of his 19 targets for 91 yards and one touchdown through four weeks in his second season with Dallas. It sounds like he could miss time beyond Week 5.

Chris Olave Leads Saints With 87 Receiving Yards

Wide receiver Chris Olave was targeted 10 times and had eight catches for 87 yards in the New Orleans Saints' Week 4 loss to the Atlanta Falcons, making it his third consecutive game with at least 80 receiving yards. Olave finished the game without a touchdown but did have two chances at a score. With just over six minutes left in the fourth quarter, a scrambling Derek Carr put up a deep shot to Olave in the end zone but the ball carried the receiver out of bounds for no catch. On their next drive, Carr connected with Olave for a 16-yard pass but he was stopped on the Falcons' one-yard line, setting up an eventual Alvin Kamara touchdown. Olave will need to turn in another productive game in Week 5 for the Saints to stay in the game when they take on the Kansas City Chiefs.

Rashid Shaheed Fumbles, Sees Career High In Targets

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Rashid Shaheed's day got off to a terrible start when he muffed a punt inside his own five-yard line less than four minutes into their Week 4 game against the Atlanta Falcons. Atlanta pounced on the ball in the end zone for a touchdown, putting the Saints in an early hole. That did not deter the team from turning to Shaheed thereafter. In Week 4, he saw a career-high 11 targets which led the team and resulted in eight catches (also a career-high) for 83 yards. He also handled two rushing attempts for 14 yards on the ground. Derek Carr looked Shaheed's way twice in the end zone late in the fourth quarter but both times delivered uncatchable balls. In Week 5, the Saints take on the Kansas City Chiefs whose lack of success in zone coverage might lead to more positive results for Shaheed, as long as he can avoid further miscues.

Derek Carr Picked Off In Week 4 Loss

New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr completed 28 of 36 pass attempts for 239 yards in Sunday's 26-24 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. This was the first time this year that he did not record a touchdown pass. Carr started the game with seven consecutive completions but had his streak snapped by a fluke pick-six in the second quarter. A ball tipped at the line arced high in the air giving Atlanta linebacker Troy Andersen time to settle under the ball and secure it before rumbling 47 yards for a score. The completions and attempts were season highs but without any scores or big plays to increase his yardage total, Carr failed to crack double-digit fantasy points for the second straight week. He may find it hard to do better in Week 5 when the Saints go to Kansas City to face the Chiefs.
