Derek Carr Set To Return In Week 9

New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr (oblique) has been removed from the injury report ahead of the Week 9 matchup against the Carolina Panthers. Carr is set to make his return to the field after being sidelined for the last three games. The return of Carr is good news for the Saints offense as they struggled heavily with Spencer Rattler under center. Chris Olave should be able to return to his WR2 value while Carr is a high-end QB2 against the awful Panthers defense.

Derek Carr Expected To Play This Weekend

New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr (oblique) was on a pitch count during Wednesday's practice but is still expected to start on Sunday according to Matthew Paras of The Times-Picayune. Carr has been sidelined since suffering the oblique injury in their Week 5 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. In his absence, the Saints turned to rookie Spencer Rattler who averaged 190.3 passing yards and per game and was pulled in his most recent start. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor Carr's status throughout the week. If he is able to return to action, he should be viewed as a QB2 with upside facing the Carolina Panthers who have allowed the 28th-most points to opposing QBs this season.

Bub Means To Miss Time With Ankle Injury

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Bub Means (ankle) has reportedly picked up a high-ankle sprain and will "miss time," per Rod Walker of The New Orleans Advocate. Ouch. It's yet another ailment afflicting a Saints' offensive player as the injuries continue to pile up for them. The amount of time he'll miss is unclear, but one has to assume it will be at least a couple of weeks before he returns to action. With quarterback Derek Carr (oblique) projected to return to practice this week, New Orleans' offense is trending positively. Still, it appears they'll be without another one of their skill players for at least a short while. Wide receivers Mason Tipton and Equanimeous St. Brown figure to pick up more snaps, while newly acquired Marquez Valdes-Scantling could be pushed into action sooner than initially anticipated.

Derek Carr Practicing Ahead Of Week 9

New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr (oblique) will practice on Wednesday in preparation for the team's Week 9 matchup, per Katherine Terrell of ESPN. Additionally, head coach Dennis Allen is "optimistic" he'll play on Sunday when the team lines up against the Carolina Panthers on the road. It's fantastic news for New Orleans, which has been without their starting quarterback since the team's loss in Week 5 to the Kansas City Chiefs. The Saints are reeling after their sixth-straight defeat, and while it isn't yet confirmed, Carr's activation would be a massive boost to the offense's outlook. If he does return in Week 9, he'll get a juicy matchup against a tissue-paper-soft Panthers defense. Keep an eye on his status over the coming days.

Taysom Hill Forces Safety In Week 8

New Orleans Saints "quarterback" Taysom Hill had 20 rushing yards on four carries, caught two of four targets for 21 receiving yards, and connected with Alvin Kamara on his lone pass attempt for a three-yard gain in Sunday's loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. A jack of all trades for the offense, his biggest contribution in Week 8 came as part of the special teams unit. Chargers punter J.K. Scott mishandled a snap and attempted to scoop it up in his own end zone. Hill raced in and knocked the ball loose, getting credit for the forced fumble which ultimately resulted in a safety. This was Hill's first game back after missing the previous three with a rib injury suffered in Week 4. He should be good to go for Week 9's matchup against the Carolina Panthers.
