Here we are, Week 6 of the NFL Season. The Denver Broncos are once again on primetime TV! Denver will travel to play the Los Angeles Chargers in an AFC West division game with a lot at stake. A win brings Denver back to 3-3 on the year and right back in the thick of the AFC playoff race. The Chargers have a different idea in mind. They hung on by the skin of their teeth to win on the road last week at Cleveland. This week, they are back at home and looking to get to 4-2 and keep pace in the AFC West.
Here are my two best player props for the game this Monday night!
Russell Wilson Over 226.5 Passing Yards
This one might be a shock to everyone out there considering how bad Russell Wilson has looked in the first five games. The Chargers defense has yet to give up less than 227 passing yards to any quarterback this year. Wilson, on the other hand, has put up over 227 passing yards in three out of five games so far. The Denver offense has not looked good all year, but Wilson still can put up the passing yard numbers. The Chargers are favored by 4.5 in this game, meaning I expect them to get up early in front of the home crowd. This will turn the play calling script into a more favorable situation for Wilson’s passing yards. Denver also lost Javonte Williams to injury this year, putting more burden on the pass game. Expect the Chargers to have an early lead, forcing Wilson to throw the ball close to 40 times which is plenty to get him over the 227 passing yards mark.
Austin Ekeler 3+ Touchdowns
At 20/1, this has too much value to pass up. Austin Ekeler is starting to heat up after a slow start. In the past two games, Ekeler has produced three rushing touchdowns and two receiving touchdowns on 39 touches. That’s elite usage and elite opportunity to get in the end zone. Another reason I like Ekeler to find the end zone three times Monday Night is Denver has an elite, big-bodied corner in Patrick Surtain, which means Mike Williams will not have his normal advantage in the red zone to catch balls. The Chargers will have to look elsewhere, and with Keenan Allen still nursing an injury and doubtful to play, they will look Ekeler’s way in the red zone. He is a threat to score in the run and pass game, and I expect his elite usage to continue. He has accomplished this feat three times in the last 21 games which makes this play great value.
