Jaylen Waddle Questionable For Week 17, Dolphins Optimistic About His Status

Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel indicated that wide receiver Jaylen Waddle (knee) will be questionable for Sunday's game against the Cleveland Browns, but the head coach also said he's optimistic Waddle will be available. Waddle logged a limited practice on Thursday, an encouraging sign for his chances to suit up on Sunday. The Dolphins travel to Ohio to take on the Browns (3-12) and try to keep their slim playoff hopes alive. The Dolphins are notorious for underperforming in cold weather, making Waddle challenging to trust in Week 17. Waddle comes with risk for fantasy championship week and is a borderline WR3/FLEX option if active against the Browns. Malik Washington would see an uptick in targets and be on the FLEX radar in deep leagues if Waddle can't suit up against Cleveland.

Tyreek Hill Limited Again On Thursday

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill (wrist, rest) remained limited in practice for the second straight day this week on Thursday. Hill continues to be listed on Miami's injury report with a wrist injury that he's dealt with pretty much all year. He hasn't missed any games because of it, though, and that won't happen this Sunday in Week 17 against the Cleveland Browns. In all likelihood, the 30-year-old speedster will practice in full on Friday and be removed from the final injury report. In the Week 16 win over the San Francisco 49ers with Jaylen Waddle (knee) out, the Cheetah only caught three of his seven targets for 29 yards, but he also managed to find paydirt for the third time in the last four games. Regardless of whether Waddle plays this weekend, Hill should be considered a must-start high-end WR2/low-end WR1 for fantasy matchups in Week 17.

Tua Tagovailoa Remains Limited On Thursday

According to David Furones of the Sun Sentinel, Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa (hip) remained a limited participant during Thursday's practice session. Fantasy managers should monitor his status in case he cannot update to full participation on Friday. Tagovailoa has been dealing with this hip injury for a few weeks but has yet to miss any time due to it. After throwing for 300+ yards in each game during Weeks 12 through 14, Tagovailoa has struggled over his past two games, averaging just 205.5 yards per game. Given his current struggles, fantasy managers should consider finding an alternative option, especially during the fantasy championships. He has a tough matchup ahead of him on Sunday afternoon against the Cleveland Browns, who have allowed the 11th-fewest PPR points to opposing QBs.

Jaylen Waddle Taking Part In Thursday's Practice

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Jaylen Waddle (knee) is practicing on Thursday after missing Wednesday's session with a knee injury. The three-time 1,000-yard receiver missed last week's contest against the San Francisco 49ers, but his return to the practice field could mean he's trending toward facing the Cleveland Browns in Week 17. Waddle is having the least productive season of his young career, catching 54 passes for 700 yards and two touchdowns in 14 games. However, he always has spike-week upside, especially in favorable matchups. The Browns have allowed the third-most fantasy points per game to wide receivers, so consider Waddle a boom-or-bust flex consideration if he plays on Sunday.

Jaylen Waddle Listed As DNP On Wednesday's Estimation

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Jaylen Waddle (knee) was estimated as a non-participant on Wednesday's injury report. The Dolphins didn't hold an official practice, but if they had, Waddle would not have participated. This is a concerning start to the week for Waddle, who missed last Sunday's game after being a non-participant the whole week prior. He still has a few days to get healthy and log a limited or full practice session, but if that doesn't happen, he'll likely sit out Week 17 against the Cleveland Browns. Simply put, fantasy managers should stay tuned for key updates on his status over the next few days. If he can't play, Malik Washington would likely step up as the Dolphins' No. 2 receiver behind Tyreek Hill (wrist, rest).
