Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz (shoulder) exited during the third quarter of Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He is officially questionable to return. Schultz landed hard on his shoulder after hurdling over a defender, and he hasn't been on the field since. At the time of his departure, he had caught four of his five targets for 39 yards. Cade Stover will step up as the Texans' primary tight end until Schultz can return to the mix.
Houston Texans wide receiver Xavier Hutchinson (shoulder) is inactive for Week 13 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He had been listed as questionable after logging three limited practices in a row. The 24-year-old has operated in a strictly depth role this season, but he did earn some extra opportunities during the respective absences of Nico Collins and Stefon Diggs (knee). All in all, through 12 games this season, Hutchinson had caught seven of his 18 targets for 70 yards through the air. The second-year receiver is still searching for his first career NFL touchdown. John Metchie III and Robert Woods figure to earn extra snaps with Hutchinson shelved for Week 13.
Houston Texans wide receiver John Metchie III gets an exploitable matchup in Week 13 when he squares off against the Jacksonville Jaguars in a divisional clash. The 24-year-old has seen his usage increase since Week 9, logging 61% or more of the team's snaps. It has yet to amount to much regarding fantasy output, but he has become a staple in Houston's lineup. He'll line up across from a Jacksonville defense that's allowed the third-most fantasy points per game to wide receivers (41.3). Additionally, the Jags have turned over their opponents only eight times this year -- tied for the second-lowest mark in the league. Despite the excellent matchup, Metchie III will only be a recommended option in deep leagues and DFS contests. He's RotoBaller's PPR WR71 ahead of Week 13's slate.
The Jacksonville Jaguars present a great slump-busting chance for Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud, who is a fringe QB1 candidate in the Week 13 matchup. Last year's Offensive Rookie of the Year has been a fantasy disappointment relative to where he was drafted, throwing just 14 touchdowns and ranking behind the likes of Sam Darnold and Bo Nix. To the credit of the second-year quarterback, a poor pass-protecting offensive line that has allowed more yardage lost to sacks than anyone in the NFL certainly has been a major factor. The Jags, however, rank 32nd against fantasy quarterbacks, allow the fourth-most air yards, second-most yards after catch, and have the second-worst pressure percentage in the league. This week is a prime candidate for Stroud to turn things around.
Coming off a season-worst 22 rushing yards last week, Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon has an excellent chance for a get-right game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 13. The Jags rank 31st against fantasy running backs and have allowed more yards after the catch than everyone except New Orleans, giving a highly involved running back a great opportunity to rack up points. The former Cincinnati Bengal has been consistently productive in his first season in Houston, piling up six top-10 finishes among running backs in just nine games. Any fantasy manager rostering Mixon should have him glued into their Week 13 lineup.
