Jerry Jeudy Misses Thursday's Practice

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Jerry Jeudy (leg) did not suit up for Thursday's practice session. Jeudy made a return on Sunday, but was downgraded to individual drills on Monday. Now, Jeudy is watching from the sidelines with a wrap around his leg. The fifth-year wideout is not expected to play in the preseason opener. The Browns are going to be cautious with the oft-injured receiver especially in camp. When healthy, Jeudy should be the No. 2 wideout on the roster behind Amari Cooper.

Kenny Pickett Hasn't Secured Backup Role

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Kenny Pickett was dealt to the organization following two underwhelming seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The former first-round pick out of Pittsburgh University threw for just 4,474 yards, 13 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions in 25 starts to begin his career. The Eagles didn't give up much to acquire him, but he is reportedly still competing with Tanner McKee (a 2023 sixth-round pick) for the backup job behind Jalen Hurts. Both signal-callers are getting second-team reps, so this is a situation worth monitoring in superflex and two-QB leagues. Although Hurts has stayed mostly healthy during his pro career, his dual-threat style leaves him more susceptible to injury. If Hurts had to miss any time, Pickett or McKee would become a must-roster option in those formats, and either could have short-term upside given the high-end pass-catchers on the Philadelphia roster.

Jerry Jeudy A Full Participant On Sunday

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Jerry Jeudy returned to practice on Sunday after being limited with a knee injury over the last week or so. He has been participating in individual drills and workouts since Friday. Jeudy was brought in via trade to be the complement to Amari Cooper. Last year, Cooper was far and away the top target out of all of the receivers and the next best pass-catcher was tight end David Njoku. Jeudy hauled in 54 receptions for 758 yards and two touchdowns in a lackluster offense on the Denver Broncos last season. There's still some chemistry to build with Deshaun Watson, but Jeudy is being drafted in the later rounds of re-draft leagues right now.

Browns Still "Closely Monitoring" Deshaun Watson

Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson (shoulder) continues to participate fully in training camp sessions. However, the Browns aren't taking any chances with his recovery from season-ending shoulder surgery, with Zac Jackson of The Athletic reporting that the team is "closely monitoring" his rehab efforts. The 28-year-old had his best season in 2020 while still a member of the Houston Texans. Yet, he's struggled in limited action in his first two seasons in Cleveland. With that in mind, Watson has plenty of tools in his arsenal. As a result, the signal-caller is a bounce-back candidate this season, but he'll need to stay healthy.

David Njoku Shining At Training Camp

Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku has had some impressive showings during recent training camp practices. Not only that, but it appears Njoku has strengthened his rapport with quarterback Deshaun Watson, with the tight end receiving frequent attention from the signal-caller during plays. The 2017 No. 29 overall pick has had some down years throughout his career. However, he's coming off his best season, totaling career-highs in receptions (81), yards (882), and touchdowns (six), resulting in a Pro Bowl selection. Without a doubt, Njoku has plenty of hype entering the 2024-25 campaign, and his statistical contributions could be higher than ever if Watson returns to form and stays healthy.
